by David Bloomberg -- 02/09/2006
It’s only the second episode, and already somebody is talking about quitting? Plus, what major changes are in store for the contestants? Read on to find out what you can expect on the second episode of Survivor: Panama – Exile Island. Minor spoilers contained in this article.

It’s only the second episode of Survivor: Panama – Exile Island, but already the contestants’ world is going to be turned upside-down. They began the game broken up into four teams of four each – older men, older women, younger men, and younger women. They’ve barely had time to learn their tribal names, but early in Episode 2, a game of schoolyard pick-‘em turns four tribes into two.

Who will end up on which tribe? The previews at the end of last week’s episode showed Cirie talking about Shane, so it’s a good bet they’re together. But we also saw that Shane is going to continue to have difficulty with life on Survivor, especially because of his nicotine withdrawal. Life does not get better for him as he goes through what he describes as “psychotic bad idea detox.”

The second episode, “Breakdown,” raises the possibility that Shane might actually quit only six days into the game. Will he push past his problems to stick around? After all, no contestant has ever quit this early in the game. Even if he does, will he be able to keep his crankiness in check so his new tribemates don’t make the decision for him and send him packing? You won’t want to miss it in case it is Shane’s last stand, because he provides some choice quotes to describe his unique take on the Survivor experience.

Also in this week’s episode, another contestant makes a major (and stupid) mistake and leaves their tribe hungry, disappointed, and a bit pissed off. Will that affect the alliances that are being formed as two Survivors find themselves in positions of power on that tribe?

This episode will provide answers to questions like:

  • Who will be sent to Exile Island?
  • Which tribe is called “absolutely inept” by host Jeff Probst?
  • Who is picked last when the new tribes are chosen and what happens to them?
  • Who believes they are “screwed” by the new tribe dynamics?
  • What is the newest clue for the hidden immunity idol?
  • Why do the challenges involve snakes and zombie heads?

Of course, the main question is who will go home. Join me Thursday at 8/7 Central on CBS as we find out!
