“They’re a Bunch of [Bleep]ing Lunatics”: An Interview with Big Brother: All-Stars’ Jaseby David Bloomberg -- 07/28/2006
View Printable version of this article Jase thought he was safe this week, but suddenly found himself on the block and heading out of the house. We caught up with Jase in between his other engagements. Let’s see what he had to say. RealityNewsOnline: I know we’re short on time, so let’s get right to it. It seemed that you came into this edition of Big Brother with a different attitude – you weren’t becoming pals with people or engaging in fake friendships. You even stayed sitting on the couch during the last eviction while everybody else escorted Nakomis to the door. Was this a change you made on purpose for a reason, or was it simply an outgrowth of how you felt about your housemates? Jase: Here’s the thing. I hated BB5. I hated going into Big Brother: All-Stars. However, it’s a chance to win half a million bucks for my family. When somebody’s leaving, that’s the end, I don’t have to BS you anymore. I was miserable in there. Those people in there drive me crazy. They’re a bunch of f---ing lunatics. RNO: So you really didn’t want to be there? Jase: No, I missed my family horribly. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: The environment inside the house is worse than a Turkish prison. Can you imagine having to sit down and hear Marcellas’ voice 24/7? RNO: We put Marcellas into the Reality TV Hall of Shame last time he was on, so we’ve heard from him over the years, complaining about us. Jase: So can you imagine having to live with that? Are you feeling my pain here? RNO: Definitely. Changing topics a bit, how would you compare your play and strategy this time around to last time? Jase: My strategy was to kind of miss my family and mope around. When it comes to game time I can step it up and bring it. I’m more meant to play Survivor. Look at last week – I competed once in the food competition and won a feast for the house. Then I went again and got another. On Survivor, if I do that they’re happy because I’ve fed them, and I survive. But on Big Brother, they target you for being a threat. Then there are people like Erika, who float around and you don’t even know she’s in the house until the end. Also, I think the fix was in with the veto comp for George. That was set up for the person on the block who knew he was going. Notice there weren’t any girls for the shaving of heads. Two weeks before, we did the spinning of the wheel. This time we drew balls. The bag seemed a little light, so there probably weren’t any girls’ names in that bag. RNO: In your last words to your housemates, you said you hated the way you were leaving but didn’t want to expand on it. Would you like to expand on it now? Jase: I just hated being backdoored. You come to play the game. I was put up and I left. I would have liked to have lost after competing in the veto, not going out the backdoor. I got nine-fingered this time, without any lube. RNO: Were you surprised the vote was nine to zero, or did you know by that point? Jase: There’s a secret code within the house that we let everyone know where the voting is going so they can jump on or off. Everybody can vote the same way so they don’t look like the odd person who voted, unless you want to screw with somebody. So we know the results before Julie Chen announces it. RNO: Do you think there was anything you could have done after James said he was going to nominate you to change the way the votes were falling? Jase: Actually, it went back and forth many times. I was staying, going, staying, going. People think and rethink. But you know, I’m so glad to be going home. RNO: Do you feel you were more of a threat to the season 6 players than Will is? Jase: Probably, because I’m probably more capable of winning HOH than Will, who is notorious for throwing competitions. RNO: How is it that Will keeps slipping by? Jase: He’s got them believing that he doesn’t care to be there, which actually he doesn’t. He is truthful when he says he will leave sequester. He doesn’t want to be there, and he’s a doctor. Financially it’s not a thing to him. RNO: So you think he’s been telling the truth? Jase: No, everything that comes out of his mouth is a lie, but there is a point where he wouldn’t want to be trapped in sequester. RNO: When you talked to Julie after your eviction, you said you didn’t know if there was a Mr. & Mrs. Smith alliance – care to expand on that? Jase: All the All-Stars talked before the show. Everyone text-messaged, everyone phoned, everyone said they would have alliances until the end. So everybody had that going in. Once there, you kind of figured out where you stood. RNO: What are your feelings about so many season 6 contestants being on the show? Jase: I couldn’t care less – it could have worked for or against them. Currently, it’s working for them. But I don’t care about anybody else in the house besides myself. RNO: I know you have to run. Thanks, Jase!
