“There Wasn’t Much Trust to Go Around”: An Interview with Big Brother: All-Stars’ Kaysarby David Bloomberg -- 08/11/2006
View Printable version of this article After being evicted from Big Brother for the third and, presumably, final time, Kaysar talked to RealityNewsOnline about his time in the house and his thoughts on what happened to him. RealityNewsOnline: Hello, Kaysar, how are you this morning? Kaysar: Doing well. Got up bright and early. RNO: You told Julie Chen that you’re not cut out for the game – so what made you come back? Kaysar: You know, I sincerely believe that I can play this game with respect and by respecting others and playing with integrity and honesty. As much as I told myself I could be more devious than last time, it’s not part of who I am. I can’t do it. Last time, I might have been able to [play with honesty], but this time there were too many daggers flying and you can’t dodge them. When you think you can trust somebody, you need to rely on people. And when everyone’s got their own agenda and there isn’t a shred of integrity left in the house, it really leaves me between a rock and a hard place. I had suspected James would turn eventually, but this soon in the game, it was quite disappointing. And with Danielle had tried to reach out to me and told me she trusted me more than anyone in the house, it was disappointing. I may appear to be naïve, but I do trust people and want to see the good in people. I can’t play the game like a Dr. Will or a James or Danielle, or even Erika who is floating. That’s why I say maybe I don’t fit in that sort of game. RNO: What was your plan coming into the game? Kaysar: My plan was to be myself and hopefully sort of appeal to the kinder, gentler part of who they are. I knew everyone would come out guns blazing, aggressive, and devious. I wanted to tug on their heart strings and capture their sensitive sides. I thought if I can be honest and transparent as possible and respectful, I can probably gain the support of some of the house. Clearly that did not work. RNO: Do you think it was fair to have so many Big Brother 6 players in the game together? Kaysar: I can’t say whether or not it was fair. After all, America voted us in. Put it this way – as much of an advantage as it was for us, it was also a disadvantage. It was a huge target, we had to win HOH every week and didn’t have the luxury of a week of relaxation. We had to win. There was no way to take the focus off of us. That was part of the whole theory of leaving Chill Town in, to get the attention off of one big target and on another. RNO: How did you feel when Julie Chen ambushed you with the information about James’ secret alliance and his feelings about Janelle? Kaysar: Parts of what she said to me was not a shock. I know how James feels about Janelle’s game play. He’s fed it to me piecemeal over the course of the week. I knew he was going to eventually defect and find a new home with Danielle. The part that was shocking was the alliance with Chill Town. Did you realize just how mad James was at Janelle? Kaysar: Yeah, I did realize how much anger he was harboring. I have to say, I was a little disappointed. Part of being loyal is rolling with it. There has to be some understanding as to what happens in the game and sticking with it. That’s his game plan and I wish him the best. Those were the decisions he made. It’s a surprise, a shock, and I believe I did my best to pave the way for him. RNO: He seemed to think your alliance had a deal, that he would go along with taking out a floater during his time as HOH and the next HOH would target Chill Town. Did you think that deal was in place? Kaysar: Here’s the thing, which is what we tried to explain to him. The game changes week to week, even day to day. My target as HOH varied. Same thing first week, and second week, and third week, and so on. It’s going to change. He needed to understand that. Unfortunately, he didn’t and felt it was a big conspiracy. We were entertaining multiple options. You make your decisions based on who comes to your door or what kind of cross talk you pick up. Then you finally decide and go with it. There was no conspiracy or deals made. It was kind of ironic to see him complain about those things and then do it himself. It might have been an act of preservation and securing his spot, I don’t know. But he was complaining about feeling he was getting wronged, and I truly did try to make sure he was treated fairly and the team was open and honest. I do believe Janelle might have made some mistakes that cost us the game. It depends on how you look at it. RNO: Why did you avoid going after Chill Town when you were HOH? Kaysar: Here’s the thing: it was pretty obvious that the season 6 alliance was a big target. We coming in with four very strong players. People were gunning for us, it was very apparent. We had two objectives: 1) win as many HOHs as possible. 2) create a seemingly bigger target in the house to offset what was taking place. That’s what we were trying to do. We won as many HOHs as we could. The second was trying to make it seem like Chill Town was a huge issue. 1 2 Next-->View Printable version of this article |
