“This Is My Jury House!” – An Interview with Big Brother: All-Stars’ Howie

by David Bloomberg -- 08/22/2006
Hurricane Howie is in the house! The sequester house, that is. And he’s just waiting for new residents to join him. What will he do when they get there? What does he think of Chill Town and George? And why does Howie believe other players cheated? Read on to find out in this extremely blunt RealityNewsOnline interview.

Howie came into the house as part of the largest alliance – which made his group one of the biggest targets. Looking back, does he think they should have gone after the other main target, Chill Town? Why did he trust them? What does he think of them now? Howie doesn’t mince words in telling us exactly how he feels!

RealityNewsOnline: Hi, Howie. How are you doing?

Howie: I’m okay, but I’d rather be in the Big Brother house kicking some ass! I tried. But I trusted Chill Town. Don’t ever do it! The evil doctor still lurks!

RNO: Well, that actually leads to my first question: Why did you trust Chill Town?

Howie: Early in the show I didn’t trust them, period. He would complain about not wanting to be in sequester and I was like, “just shut up.” You came here for a reason. You wanted a shot at the title and that’s why you came back. I didn’t believer or trust them. But we continued to have power and Janey fell for him like a childhood seventh-grade crush.

Did I completely trust him? No. But I did put my faith in their hands and I’m sitting in sequester because of it. I don’t want to blame anybody else, but I wasn’t HOH and they weren’t my decisions. The sovereigns really didn’t have all our “i”s dotted and weren’t on the same wavelength.

RNO: How far into the game did you think the season six alliance could all get?

Howie: We were one HOH from blowing people out of the house. We would have completely controlled that game. We really could have hauled off six in a row if I could have stayed on that web, but I was out of gas. Then I was one question off tying George and Danielle this week, and I’m not a math idiot so I would have won. A week earlier, I would have won the first HOH competition if I hadn’t gotten robbed on a technical difficulty. We could have cleared the house out. One question here and there it changes the whole game.

RNO: When Kaysar was evicted, he told me the season six strategy was to keep another target in the house, which is why you guys didn’t target Chill Town. Looking back, do you think you should have done things differently?

Howie: Hindsight is 20/20. Before the game, a lot of people said you gotta get that doctor out of the house in week one. He doesn’t win HOH or veto, but HOH and veto are powerless next to the power of deception. He made some allies before getting to the house. He’s powerful enough alone, plus he has all these little Santa’s helpers.

We went into the house it was 10 on 4. You can only juggle so many balls at one time. If we leave those four or five we evicted and go for someone else, maybe it’s different. But there’s no such thing as a mass eviction in the Big Brother house.

For example, I thought it was a blessing that George won a veto and we sent Jase home. Then, three or four weeks later, George sent me home. Everybody’s dangerous in the house. You can say Chill Town this and Danielle this. But this was a result of a pre-show alliance. Boogie was dating Erika and there was no way he was going to evict her. If you send Will home, maybe Alison sends me home. Maybe Danielle steps up and sends Janelle home. It’s like any game, you can judge and contemplate each move. Yeah, things could have been different. That’s the nature of what happened. I went six or seven weeks because my alliance continued to kick ass. The house was gunning for us. The odds were stacked against us. But there’s still two of us left after halftime.

RNO: After the last few days, what is your opinion of George?

Howie: I could rip on him all I want, but he deserves to be there as much as anybody. He won a veto and HOH. He earned his spot as an All-Star. Did I get along with him in the house? Absolutely! He was manipulated and strong-armed and threatened. Geroge is stupid and dumb, but it’s better to be lucky than good. His luck has carried him a long way.

He promised me safety the night before and again in the morning. He went back on it and that doesn’t sit well with me. He guaranteed and went back on his word. He can kiss my ass the rest of my life. The chicken man can kiss the back of my ass.

I always said if I got voted out in a competitive style, I had no problem. But if you lie to me, I will take you down.

This is going to be the greatest sequester house in history. Hurricane Howie will be on each contestant as they get here. This is my jury house and they’re going to see what it’s like when they get here!

RNO: You were obviously upset that George went back on his promise, as you just mentioned, and that Chill Town lied to you – but isn’t that what Big Brother is all about?

Howie: It is… it is. They promised me all day long that they were gonna vote for me. They were supposedly in my alliance – I got sucked in. You build a rapport with people and you lose focus. I got caught with my head down in the game. It’s absolutely about breaking trust.

I kept my confidentiality before the game. I cannot say the same for four or five others. They had a pre-game alliance, which is a breach of contract. If one of them wins, their winnings should be distributed among the others because they cheated and made an alliance outside before the game started, which is what sent me home. They cheated. You can say I’m a baby, but it’s the truth and reality and why I got evicted. Dr. Will is a great player but all of a sudden you get three or four others helping him, and that makes it very difficult.

RNO: Did you tell any lies in the house?

Howie: I told lies. But there is a big difference between lies and promises. I did break a promise but I didn’t think it would be honored – before a food competition, I promised Dr. Will I wouldn’t put him on slop, and I did.

I trusted the snake, the evil doctor, and I got my head blown off. Yeah, I lied. We promised George we’d let him be part of our alliance. Was I going to go back on that? Yeah. But he wasn’t going on the block for at least a week or two. If that had worked, it would have been justifiable. You can’t expect everything when you’re HOH, you can only promise week to week. He was definitely safe. But he went back on his word and put me up. Everyone has been exposed now, there are no more deals to be made. Their words are nothing. If I were still there, I would be last year’s Hurricane Howie of biblical proportions.

RNO: What would you say to viewers who saw the way you left the house?

Howie: I was betrayed and was very mad. This is reality TV and I was very mad, very pissed off. I hugged James and Erika. I was trying to reach Boogie’s hat. I let him know how mad I was.

It’s going to be tough to get Chill Town out of the house, they have a certain power [the Coup d’Etat, but Howie doesn’t know its name or what it does]. Janey and James are in big trouble.

The way you see me acting is basically me. Obviously, I gotta tone it down for television. But I wasn’t going to walk out the door without guns blazing. As much as I wanted to break Boogie’s jaw, I don’t want to go to jail anytime soon, so I get in his face and talk a little verbal judo.
