The Amazing Race 10, Episode 7: Perfectly Alignedby Jenn Brasler -- 10/30/2006
View Printable version of this article Previously on All Petered Out: Seven teams departed India for Kuwait. Mary & David were marked for elimination, but they got the Fast Forward (thanks to ErGo). Erwin then tackled a fear of heights. Dublyn was rude to Kandice & Dustin. David & Mary got to the Pit Stop first and didn’t get a penalty. Peter & Sarah got very, very lost and wound up eliminated. And there was much rejoicing. There are six teams left: Mary & David - Married/Sentimental favorites/Saved by friendship (awwww) Dustin & Kandice - Friends/Could possibly be the first two-woman team to win Rob & Kimberly - Dating/Not quite as objectionable as they were before Lyn & Karlyn (Team Dublyn) - Friends/Grrrr Erwin & Godwin (Team ErGo) - Brothers/Made a huge sacrifice for Mary & David, but it paid off Tyler & James (Team Zoolander) - Models/recovering drug addicts/Still just meh Hi, Kuwait! It looks hot there. Will the Back Pack alliance be able to stick together, or will the race force them apart? David & Mary are the first to leave at 12:37 a.m. Their clue sends them to Mauritius, an island 4,600 miles away in the Indian Ocean, near Madagascar. Raise your hand if you knew where it was. Don’t worry, I didn’t either. In Mauritius, teams will have to find marked cars for the next clue. Mary interviews that they came in first because of ErGo. The friendships they’ve made are worth more than a million dollars, and she would sacrifice the money in a heartbeat for those relationships. But… your kids want to go to Disneyland! Mary says the Back Pack alliance is now the Six Pack alliance. Eh. I liked Back Pack better, but I’ll make the switch so I don’t confuse anyone. At the airport, David & Mary get a flight through London that will get them to Mauritius at 6:50 a.m. Through London? That’s really out of the way, but okay. I’m guessing there aren’t a lot of direct flights from Kuwait to Mauritius. Kandice & Dustin leave second, three hours behind Mary & David. Dustin interviews that alliances don’t really mean anything - only one team can step on the mat at a time. I agree. I think that alliances are fine in a general sense; if you can help each other on tasks, great. But if you’re actually waiting for other teams and sacrificing your own game play for them, you need to draw the line. But more on that later. Rob & Kimberly leave third. They’re the third team to mispronounce Mauritius and not know where it is. If nothing, this show teaches people about geography! Kimberly interviews that she feels like it’s time to take control of the team. If she’s assertive, Rob will trust her. Rob interviews that it’s awesome to see her thriving in this kind of situation. Kandice & Dustin get the same flight as David & Mary and are sorry there isn’t an earlier one. They also don’t seem to know where London is. I’m really hoping they just didn’t understand the ticket agent through his accent, because otherwise… well, they’re verging on Jamie/Kellie territory. They agree with me that the route is weird. Rob & Kimberly spot David & Mary at the airport but Mary & David won’t give them any information. They laugh over Rob getting mad at them. Rob complains to Kimberly about them lying. Um, keeping quiet isn’t lying. And it’s a race. And shut up, Rob. “We’re mean,” says David. Kimberly & Rob manage to find the ticket counter without help and learn that the flight through London is the only flight to Mauritius. Rob still asks which flight the other teams got. Put on your listening ears, Rob. It’s the ONLY FLIGHT. Sheesh. Dublyn leave fourth. Lyn comes closest to pronouncing Mauritius correctly, and Karlyn thinks she’s heard of it. Karlyn interviews that their alliance with ErGo and Mary & David is good, but they know where to draw the line. They’re not going to roll over for their friends, and they don’t want the others to do that either. ErGo leave fifth as Erwin says that the alliance is working for them because they sacrificed the Fast Forward to Mary & David for an as-yet-undetermined future gain. He thinks they’ll have help down the line. Dustin & Kandice complain about the ticket agents (right in front of them - not cool) and move on to get more information. Mary & David point Dublyn and ErGo in the right direction. Zoolander leave a little over four hours after David & Mary with Tyler interviewing that the Six Pack alliance is a house of cards. Exactly! Who thought I would agree with Tyler? He adds that every team needs to look out for itself and the alliance can only last so long. Dustin & Kandice learn that, no, really, that flight through London is the only one. Dublyn make it to the same counter as Zoolander arrive at the airport. Kandice & Dustin greet them and decide to book their tickets for them. Dublyn protest but Zoolander assure them that Kandice & Dustin aren’t buying their tickets. Kandice interviews that she wants Dublyn eliminated. Get in line. Dustin adds, “They definitely don’t give anyone on this race the warm fuzzies.” Please, please let there be a situation in the future where I get to nickname a team the Warm Fuzzies. That would be awesome. Dublyn tell the ticket agents that they were next in line, but Kandice & Dustin say that Zoolander are with them. Kandice tells Karlyn that she’s being pushy. Karlyn starts complaining to the ticket agent. I’d leave him out of it if I were her. 1 2 3 4 Next-->View Printable version of this article |
