The Amazing Race 10: The Finish Line, Episode 7

by Teeuwynn Woodruff -- 11/03/2006
Since no one was eliminated this week, will poor Peggy and Jon have someone to chat with? Whatever will they do? How will they entertain themselves? And just what are they wearing?

This week our hosts Peggy Bunker and Jon Weiss are all dressed up with no one to interview! Peggy is in a cute little nurse's outfit and Jon is dressed as a ringmaster. Considering he actually IS a ringmaster, that doesn't seem like much of a costume now, does it?

Peggy introduces herself and Jon noting that they are in “god awful getups.” After they giggle a bit, Peggy says she's in the nurse's outfit because she's worried that she'll need it with the way Dustin & Kandice were driving this week. Peggy gets serious and asks Jon what he thought of this week's episode. Jon says that it was great and you never know what will happen. He thought the salt task was crazy and looked painful if you had an open wound. How true.

He also notes that David & Mary got lucky again by coming in last at another non-elimination leg. Jon says he can't wait to see what the Intersection is in next week's episode. I'm curious too, Jon! Peggy says she's hoping Lyn & Karlyn will have to work with the Beauty Queens because of the Intersection!

We now get a call from our old friend, Jeremy in Chicago. He says let's pretend that Jon and Peggy are racing with the teams last night and there was a Yield. Who would they Yield? Peggy says that she might use the Yield on Dustin & Kandice because they've been doing so well and she didn't think it was cool how they tried to mess with Lyn & Karlyn at the airport desk.

Peggy says she wouldn't use the Yield on James & Tyler because she's really hoping to see them with their shirts off again. She really does have a thing for those two! Jon notes they wouldn't yield Erwin & Godwin because they're so nice, but he wishes they would stop waiting around for everyone. I agree! Being nice is swell, but they're on a race!

Peggy notes that they actually do have a guest this week who she has rudely not introduced. She blames it on the nurse's outfit. Josh Wolk from Entertainment Weekly is here. Peggy asks who he would yield. Josh says he thinks he would go with the Beauty Queens because they're just so consistently out ahead right now. And they're a little annoying.

Peggy says that they need to rely on Josh's advice this week because he's not in costume and thus has all of his faculties together. Josh says the Beauty Queens really are doing pretty well. He notes that the Cho Brothers are the best team of the Six Pack alliance. So, that might be a reason to use the Yield on them.

Peggy asks what is up with the Six Pack? Jon notes that Lyn & Karlyn are ready to ditch the others, if necessary, in the race – which he thinks is the right philosophy. But the other two teams in the Six Pack don't feel that way. Peggy notes that this is a race for a million bucks, why would they help each other! Josh says that the Cho Brothers have a notion that the three teams together are stronger than anyone else, but the whole chain is really only as strong as its weakest link. It's like a smaller boxer putting weights on his arms to make himself bigger, but it's just going to slow him down. It's ridiculous. They're not going to share the money.

Jon says that maybe they just want to keep the weaker teams around for the final three. Josh says that if they keep waiting for people to catch up and they're at the tail of the pack, all it takes is one wrong turn at the last minute and they'll be out. It's stupid. Right you are, Joshy!

As Peggy says, we're starting to get down to the wire and teams need to get serious. She then introduces the scariest moment of the week – Dustin & Kandice's car crash. Peggy says that if you get into a car crash it helps to be young and blonde. Jon says it didn't look like they had to stay at the crash site very long. Peggy says it looked very brief.

Josh says that this is bad because as a kid you think of them as the prom queens, but that someday they'll get theirs. Then you watch this and they have an accident and then basically pull away. Then later at the Detour one falls in a ditch, but she just jumps up and they come in first anyway. Peggy says she doesn’t think the cop was writing them a ticket; he was just getting their number!

Peggy says that if Dustin & Kandice's car had been disabled, they would have gotten another car, but Rob & Kimberly didn't have that kind of luck. Their car wouldn't even shift into gear. Jon says that Rob got so aggravated and was giving up and Kimberly had to get him back in line and back in control to get the situation resolved – even at the post office he was screaming and yelling.

Peggy gleefully says that she loves it when teams fight! Josh notes its always the exact same kind of couple that does this. It's always a young, good-looking couple. He thinks the amount the team loves each other is directly inverse to the number of times they call each other “babe.” But you can just feel the hatred and rage seeping off of both of them. Snork! Peggy agrees it's always a good-looking couple and she thinks America is just hoping they will break up so that we can date them. Ummm... I'm not interested in dating Rob, thanks anyway, Peggy.
