America’s Next Top Model 7, Episode 8: Lost In TranslationPage 2View Printable version of this article Some of the girls begin practicing right away, while Jaeda’s partner, Nacho, not only doesn’t want to practice, but tells Jaeda that he doesn’t like black girls! Okay, I’m going to say it – what an A**HOLE! She should have turned to him and said, “With a name like Nacho, you don’t have any room to be picky.” Anyway, Melrose says that it’s not right what he’s doing to Jaeda and when the girls head out, Jaeda tells the camera that the experience in Barcelona is ruined now for her. However, everyone perks up when they see their new digs, which is a beautiful apartment in Spain. Tyra Mail tells the girls that it’s their new lair, and the challenge winner will get first choice of bedroom – of course, MY CariDee picks the room with the biggest bed. Melrose is pissed, and I’m pleased. The next day, the girls get ready for their shoot. Melrose says she stayed up an extra two hours just to learn her lines and get it down. MY CariDee tries to roll her tongue but says she can’t. That’s okay, girl, I can’t either! Michelle admits that she hasn’t kissed a boy since she was ten, and just hopes she doesn’t suck, while Jaeda says she is a very loyal girlfriend and feels it’s rude to kiss other guys.
Tyra greets everyone when they arrive at the shoot and says that Barcelona is the fashion capital of Spain. She quickly finds out about Jaeda’s counterpart not liking black girls and tells her to give him a kiss that will make him love them! As Tyra whisks herself away, out swooshes Jay Manuel to tell the girls that their commercial today will be for Secret deodorant, and they will need to show that they can hold it down when the pressure is on, especially since the commercial won’t be in English. Hair and makeup begin and the girls get to meet heir director. MY CariDee is beginning to get overwhelmed and Michelle knows that the other girls worry about how her kiss is going to be, while she doesn’t even think it’s a big deal. Speaking of Michelle – she’s up first! She has some problems with her Catalan, but who can blame her? She does an okay job with the kiss and even Jay says that although he thought it would be the worst part, it was actually the best. Oh Jay – shut up, you bottom! Finally, I said it! It took me seven seasons, but I finally got that out, and surprisingly, I feel so much better. Tasha was right – it does help to vent! Eugena is up next and tells the camera that she acted the way she knew they wanted to see her, despite the fact that she had issues with the language barrier. Jay feels that he wasn’t expecting much but she did quite well. Out comes Amanda, who Jay basically just goes on to say was boring and not sexy. I’m going to have to agree. She didn’t really do much at all, and if I wasn’t told who was who, I wouldn’t have been able to tell which one I was watching! Here comes Jaeda! Before she even begins, she’s already defeated and frustrated. She gives it the good ol’ college try, and eventually does get through the commercial and the kiss, but hopes that she will never have to do it again. All this is completely the opposite of Melrose, who goes out there and gives the director and Jay what they want. She’s all over the place and seems crazy to me, but Jay is eating it up, telling her that she was one of the best reads of the day. Melrose, of course, does her whole “Oh my God, REALLY?” routine. It’s getting old MY CariDee is the last for the day, and Jay compares her Catalan to a mixture of Swedish and Cantonese. She’s very nervous and gets frustrated that she can’t get the language down, but her make-out session is by far the longest of the group. This is too funny. I actually can’t believe how long it lasts. Boyfriend, who? So the girls wrap up and head home. Tyra Mail says that they will meet with the judges tomorrow. MY CariDee just isn’t sure what the judges are going to think about her commercial since she knows it was her first bomb of the season. Whatever happens though, it’s going to be rough – that’s one thing she knows. My fingers are already crossed. If A.J. and Brooke can be sent home after one bad week, it could happen to MY CariDee as well! The girls file into the judging room like they are being led to their deaths! Tyra reminds them of the prizes and introduces them to the judges, including Denis Roviera, the director for their commercial. Before we get to the judging though, we see the completed version of the commercial, and it looks pretty good! However, now it’s time to look at how the girls did during each of their takes. It’s time for individual evaluations, and Michelle is first. She has some issues with the wording and Tyra tells her that she has to listen more to the words that she is trying to say. Eugena goes next and Tyra thinks she is one of the best so far. Umm, she only saw two girls so far! Everyone agrees that Eugena actually tried though, and for that, they are grateful. I’m not going to lie – MY CariDee was NOT good this week with the commercial, as we get to see her long make-out. Nigel says that she appeared drunk in the commercial and even Tyra says it was disappointing and looked amateur. Jaeda is up next and even warns the judges that it’s not good. Twiggy agrees, calling Jaeda’s commercial a car crash, adding that she can’t act! Tyra looks for something positive and not only tells the judges that Jaeda had problems since her male model didn’t like black girls, but that her face caught the light and made her look radiant – at times. Nothing like a backhanded compliment from Ms. Banks. <--Previous 1 2 3 Next-->View Printable version of this article |
