America’s Next Top Model 8, Episode 9: It’s A G’Day For A Go-See!

Two weeks ago, we saw the girls hit up Sydney, Australia, to work on their interview skills. During the Cover Girl commercial, Natasha and Renee excelled while it was a complete disaster for Brittany and Jael. However, it was Jael who was sent home when she failed to sell her commercial side. There are five girls left, let’s see which one gets the boot this week, shall we?

The same night Jael was sent home, the girls chat. Natasha can’t believe she has made it this far, while Renee comments that it’s unfair that Jael was sent home while Brittany used her short term memory as a crutch to escape elimination. Brittany doesn’t really care though, even though she says it sucks that Jael left, but she’s doing well in the competition.

Dionne has something to say, as usual. She thinks that it’s strange Brittany had no problems with the acting challenge two weeks ago, but couldn’t remember her lines from the commercial. She feels like Brittany is being a liar about the whole thing and has an excuse for everything. That’s true – she did great for the acting challenge!

The next day, the girls get Tyra mail that tells them it’s time to go on some go sees! They arrive at Priscilla’s Model Management and meet up with the owner, Priscilla. She introduces Jodhi Meares, the host of Australia’s Next Top Model, who tells the girls they are going out to see designers and need to sell themselves. They will be judged on personality, profile, and runway walk. At the end of the day, one girl will win the challenge, but they are all told to be back by 4:30 p.m. or they will be disqualified!

Everyone runs out the door and into a cab. Jaslene’s strategy is to be “calm, cool, and collective.” That’s right. The designers seem to love her though, and Natasha as well. Brittany gets lost right off the bat. I don’t think it’s going to be her day.

Dionne is doing swimwear, and when she’s finished she asks to keep the outfit – and they let her! Brittany finally gets to where she needs to be and the designers are not impressed with her walk at all – neither am I. I didn’t realize it was so bad. However, something is strange since Brittany says she isn’t feeling pressure.

All the girls are strutting their stuff, as we see Dionne get more clothes because she asks for them and all the designers saying how much they love Jaslene. Brittany? Yeah, she’s stuck on an elevator – or should I say, lost.

Renee puts pictures of her son in her portfolio to earn brownie points, but I don’t think it actually does anything. Brittany is lost again. Dionne has some issues with posture and tries to keep some shoes while Natasha dishes out hugs to all the designers. However, all the girls know they need to get back.

Renee is the first girl back, and she’s followed by Dionne. Brittany, because she wanted to go to one last go see and forgot to tell her cab to meet her, is lost again. Natasha knows she has to be on time and Jaslene regrets going to see the last designer. She makes it back with a minute to spare, while Natasha is a minute late and told that she is disqualified. She goes outside to wait, where Brittany finds her. Of course, Brittany is mad and upset, blaming her cab driver and cursing all over the place. Priscilla hears this from the inside and isn’t impressed. How unprofessional, Brittany!

Priscilla finally tells the girls their comments. She tells Renee that she has a great personality, but the designers felt she photographed too hard. Dionne appealed with her personality but her posture is bad, while Jaslene had a great walk and personality, and she’s the winner! For her prize, she will have a photo shoot on top of the Sydney Harbor Bridge along with a friend! She chooses Dionne, and they all walk outside and have to listen to Brittany tell her excuses.

Dionne and Jaslene get to the top of the bridge where Nigel is waiting for them. They take their photos and I have to say that they both look great! Nigel has fun and Jaslene knows that this is good news for the two of them. Back at the house though, the girls get Tyra mail that says, “Men are from Mars and women are from Venus. Can you rock a planet?” Of course, nobody knows what it means and they basically sit around guessing for a half hour. The decision is made that Tyra will be the photographer.

Jay welcomes the girls to the site of the shoot. He tells them that today, they will be shooting two photos – one for a woman’s magazine and one for a men’s magazine. Oh, and Tyra will be shooting the woman’s magazine shoot, so the girls were half right! Both shots will be in swimsuits and with sexy men. Gotta have the sexy men, of course!

The girls are shooting for the woman’s magazine first and Brittany is up. She tries her best but Tyra thinks she is scared of her sexuality. I think she looks great with the extension though, if I might add.

Dionne is up next and she seems a bit awkward at first but gets comfortable as it goes on. She does a bit too much posing though and Tyra really thinks that she is thinking way too much about the whole shoot.

The next girl to see Tyra is Jaslene. She struggles a bit at first to find a connection with the camera, but when she lets go and just does her thing, that’s when it works. It’s obvious too, since her photos look great and even Tyra is in love with it!

Renee goes next and she is in the water, which is freezing. She looks great though and Tyra seems happy. Her extensions make her look younger too, and it makes me wish that they had given them to her earlier in the competition!

Finally, we have Natasha for the women’s magazine. She looks hot and Tyra isn’t really sure at first how she’s going to do, but her posing comes into play and Natasha really does bring it home. That wraps it up for the women’s magazine though, so it’s now time for the men’s magazine shoot.

Jaslene goes first this time and Jay loves her. She’s ready to do her thing and loves that Jay is complimenting her. Dionne doesn’t love that she has to be in the water and Jay says that she is starting to give a mean look again and doesn’t look friendly at all in her photos.

Renee is next and she still looks great. She knows she can be sexy since that’s her thing. Brittany works it out as well and even though you wouldn’t think that she would do well during this kind of photo shoot, she actually rocks it out! Natasha is last and looks like a porn star, of course. However, she has this vibe that Jay is really feeling and she thinks it was her best day ever!
