“I Have Never Been Faced with Anyone Like Dick” – An Interview with Big Brother 8’s Jenby David Bloomberg -- 08/24/2007
View Printable version of this article Jen was a confusing person to watch in the Big Brother house, and I wasn’t sure how she would answer some of my questions. As you’ll see below, I think she answers them pretty forthrightly, even to the point of knowing when she did something she shouldn’t have. So let’s see what she has to say. RealityNewsOnline: Hello, Jen, and thanks for taking the time to answer these questions for RealityNewsOnline. Starting from last night, did you pretty much expect to be evicted, or did you still have hope you might stay? Jen: I was expecting to be evicted, I could have stayed had I not done the whole eating food thing, and had I really thought about it in that sense I probably would not have eaten, but what are you going to do? I had an interesting time while it lasted and I am happy to be out and answering all of your questions. (Smiling.) RNO: Why did you decide to break the food rule and end up incurring a penalty vote? Jen: I do not think that eating and receiving a penalty vote was a good decision, but in all honesty it wasn't much of a decision at all – it just kind of happened all of the sudden and then it was done... also, had I eaten the food and not received a penalty vote, my house[mates] would have still been upset with me and voted me out anyways, so whatever. RNO: Going back to the beginning, what was your strategy coming into the game? Jen: Well, my strategy was to be me, to be honest, happy, fun, and to keep my values intact. RNO: How did that strategy change once you got to the house? Jen: It didn't much change, I was pretty much me until the end there. RNO: How did you put up with so much abuse from Dick, including having him pour iced tea on your head? Jen: Having him pour iced tea on my head was nothing compared to the harsh words, and in my face confrontation that Dick had with me. I honestly have never been faced with anyone like Dick, or let me call him Richard, in my life. But I always thought if you treat people how you want to be treated, which in my case is good, then they will in return. Obviously that didn't work out so well, but I am still a happy person and he is just the one that's all upset that he couldn't get to me. RNO: Why did you destroy Dick's cigarettes? Jen: I don't like to be around cigarette smoke for one, and Richard was very rude and a chain smoker and I just wanted them to be gone! RNO: Why did you bring all the "Jen" shirts? Jen: I actually got very bored in the pre-show sequester and I had a lot of iron-on letters, thanks to my friend Kara, and I wasn't able to write things like "happy b-day" so I thought I would make a bunch of Jenius statements. (Grinning.) RNO: What are your quick thoughts on the other houseguests? Jen: Daniele: Willing to do anything to win the game... backstab, multiple alliances, cheat on her boyfriend, and is just a negative person in general, with her language and jokes. Eric: I started out friends with him, but he just built too many close friendships and is just committing some overkill on "playing the game." He has his ups and downs for sure and is good at convincing people of anything. Amber: Although she is very emotional, I feel that she is a good person and is just very confused on what to do, who to trust, and was very dependent on Dustin and without him is kind of lost. Jessica: Very fake nice, she is very very nice to everyone, and then a half a second later talks crap about everyone. She is using her flirting skills to advance her and her laziness to her advantage. Jameka: Very loyal, true person, she doesn't give in to what others say, she stands up for what she believes and she is very funny. I like Jameka because she is always able to do something and then make fun of herself for it. Zach: He's OK, he has become a little more normal these past couple of weeks. He thinks he's playing everyone, when in fact everyone sees what he is doing and just not caring because he is really no threat to anyone, yet. RNO: Is there anything else you want to tell us about your time in the Big Brother house? Jen: Well, my time in the Big Brother house was an experience that I won't forget, whether I want to or not, for a very long time... I actually do think it's cool that I went this whole time without talking on the phone [or] driving somewhere, and yet I am still living. It kind of shows you how dependent everyone is on electronics, entertainment in general, and the freedom to drive and do whatever you want... I am happy to have been there and I am happy to leave.
