America’s Next Top Model 10, Episode 7: A Slippery RidePage 2View Printable version of this article Anya and Katarzyna, with a fresh, new haircut, do well. Whitney also kicks it up in her shoot. Stacy-Ann flounders a bit. The goofy music starts and Fatima takes the plunge. She does a decent job with hers as well. I’m curious to see how the photos actually turn out. Here are two surprises. We hear Lauren telling us that she’s nervous and insecure. And Dominque tells us how good she is. Moving on. It’s time for the panel and time to see how interesting these photos really are. Claire is up first and she looks beautiful in a wispy dress. Tyra heard about the face plant and admonishes Claire in front of everyone. The panel is mixed on her shot as her face is in profile and flattened (not from the fall), but her body is almost fairy-like and graceful. Her neck is actually the most striking feature. Paulina likes it, Nigel and Tyra don’t and Ms. J thinks it looks like a bug on a windshield. Wow, that can’t be good. Challenge winner Stacy-Ann is up next. Her photo is almost like a silhouette, but her face is tight. You can tell she was struggling with this one to the point that even Tyra says that she could see it in all of her film. Katarzyna looks fabulous with her new short bob. Paulina comments, “Wow, that Eastern European tackiness is now gone,” as the room goes silent. Wait, isn’t Paulina from that part of the world? Hmmm… Anyway, her shot turns out beautiful, with Nigel commenting that this is the first one that looks like a model. My favorite girl, Whitney, is up next. She seemed to do well during the shoot, even to the point that she was the only one who smiled in some of the shots. This one looks like Whitney is curled up in a ball and there is a lot of movement in it. Ms. J comments that she looks like a giant fetus. {record scratch} What? Well now that you mention it, it sort of does. In any case, Tyra loves it and says that it blew her away. Boy there is no filter on the judges’ comments this week as Dominique comes up. Tyra tells her that the tights she is wearing to panel are just a bit too sheer and if she sneezed, the world would see everything. TMI, Tyra, TMI. The photo comes up and Tyra again opens her mouth to say that the photo makes Dom look as if she’s either in pain or orgasm. Her photo, I neither dislike or like. It’s odd. The whole shoot is odd. Lurch-like Lauren lumbers up the runway. Her shoot does indeed look as if she’s dead, as Tyra comments. It’s not good and apparently, most of the film was like this. When asked her approach to the shoot by Nigel, she stammers through what she was thinking and you can tell she wasn’t thinking much. A bad shoot coupled with equally bad reviews from the designers on the go-see could mean a trip to the bottom two, if you ask me. Fatima also comes through in her photo much like a fairy as well. It’s actually very beautiful, with her hands and body artfully done. For once, I like her shot. Not much is said about Anya’s shot, though it’s fiery! Literally, her hair in the light looks as if it’s a huge shooting flame. I like it. The judges deliberate. Claire is one-note. Stacy-Ann is square jawed, but did well with clients. Katarzyna is beautiful, but no personality. Whitney is beautiful, with personality. Dominique was crazy today, though she looked better during the go-sees. Fatima lucked into her shot. Anya looks like a nymph. Lauren is awkward and not confident. She’s collapsing. The decision is made. The girls are called in order with Fatima leading, followed by Anya, Katarzyna, Whitney, Stacy-Ann, and Dominique. This really unsurprisingly this week leaves Lauren and Claire. Both struggled with the shoot this week. Both normally take stunning pictures. Both get the same comment that they are one-note – Claire in photos and Lauren in the judging room. Shockingly, Lauren is called and Tyra seems to think there is something in her that isn’t so awkward. Wow, I’m surprised. I think Claire is surprised as well and she doesn’t understand why Tyra doesn’t think she’s adaptable and a chameleon. Back at the loft as she’s packing to go home, Claire tells us that she’s disappointed she failed. I think she was one of the most beautiful girls this season and seriously thought she’d go much further. She thinks she’s failed her husband and baby, but you know, I think she did a great job. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see her again. Next week, legal trouble threatens Fatima to the point where she thinks she could be sent home by default. Oh, I wonder what that could be. And Lauren cuts herself in the kitchen bad enough that she has to visit the emergency room. Aw man, this doesn’t sound very interesting. I want a good catfight! Isn’t that why we all watch this show?
