Survivor Trivia – The 2008 Quiz

by Brian Towers -- 04/14/2008
What better way to celebrate the merge on this 16th season of Survivor than ten tremendously tantalizing and terrific trivia questions? Are you up for the challenge? Yeah, that’s what the guy pictured at right said! So grab your thinking caps and read on!

Welcome to the 2008 version of Brian’s Survivor Trivia Test! Take heart, some of these posers are fairly easy. However, some are probably going to make you think ill of my ancestors!

Here’s the format of this quiz. On the first screen are the ten questions. Answers follow on the next page. Readers are encouraged to snare a pencil and paper and try and solve the questions first, before moving ahead to read my answers.

I have one definition to make clear – for the purposes of this test, “Tribal Council” excludes final Tribal Council. So if I ask about votes at Tribal Council, I’m referring only to votes AGAINST a competitor that could lead to their elimination, and not votes FOR them to win the title. Okay? Good. Now, let’s get on with the fun stuff!

THE QUESTIONS:

Let’s start with an easy one. Who has received the most votes at a single Tribal Council? (Hint: Don’t go back too far!)

Exile Islands are a fairly new feature in the Survivor game. Candice from Survivor: Cook Islands is the co-holder of two records involving her banishments to Exile Island. She is the record-holder for the most number of times sent to Exile Island (four times), plus she also holds the record for consecutive trips, with three. Who else holds these records? (Hint: It’s two different people.)

Who is the youngest to ever play the game?

Warring factions often cast numerous votes at a targeted opponent. But how often have more than two players received multiple votes at the same Tribal Council?

This one is a toughie, but see how many you can get. Eleven non-winning players were never voted against in Tribal Council, including three who never even attended a Tribal Council. Who are the 11, and among them, who are the three?

Three times, a player has been voted out by a minority vote. When?

Who was the first Survivor to receive zero votes in their favor at a final Tribal Council?

We’re getting near the end, so let’s have an easy one to celebrate the imminent end of the tribal phase of the game. In 16 seasons, which Survivor has received the most cumulative votes from all the Tribal Councils held before the merge? (Hint: It’s fairly recent.)

How many times have all the finalists (defined as those facing the jury) been male?

I want to end off with a toughie. Also, since a merge has been promised this week, let’s end up with a question about those who make the merge. Usually, those who reach the individual phase of the game have assisted the exits of other players. Most are in successful alliances, or at least they have voted with the majority just to avoid seeming like a scheming outsider. However, this season Jason is in the rare position to make the merge without ever having to vote against any player sent home so far. Exactly how rare is that? How often has a player made the merge without ever voting against a booted player?

Those are the questions, readers… how do you think you did? Move on to page two to find out!
