Dancing with the Stars 6, April 29: It’s a Gas!by Jill Jones -- 04/30/2008
View Printable version of this article Last night on Tom and Samantha review the action from the previous night. But pay no attention to them for it is I, the master recapper, who already took care of that for you. Len tells us that he and the other judges selected Jason & Edyta’s quickstep for the encore performance. Jason’s a big guy, but he’s also smooth and poised. That is, until he does his handstand again and lands next to Edyta instead of on her. Tom and Samantha now review the current standings:
Len lets us in on a surprise. Next week, the couples can perform one lift per dance as long as the lift fits in with the character of the dance. Jason immediately lifts Edyta. Tom and Samantha also share a secret with us. Kristi & Mark are safe. Kenny Mayne and Jerry Rice join Len in Dance Center. Kenny sports his usual make-up while Jerry has glitter on his eyelids. Basically, the guys go through each of the celebrity’s highs and lows. The best clip is of Shannon hitting Derek in the nads. Can I say, “nads?” Def Leppard performs “Pour Some Sugar on Me” while several of the celebrities dance. This is my kind of performance! Samantha bugs Kristi backstage by asking her about falling out of first place. Jason is a true gentleman and thanks Kristi for allowing him to be in the headlines this week. Kenny, Jerry, and Len return. They continue to discuss the celebrities and mention Jason’s problem with gas. They go as far as showing a clip in which Jason farts during practice. I’m on the floor laughing! Yoko doesn’t know what’s happening. It gets worse though; they doctor a clip of a performance of Jason’s and basically, all he does is fart. Gas is hysterical. Tom and Samantha reveal the next safe couple. It’s Karina & Mario. Samantha introduces Def Leppard in her best “I’m trying to be a rocker chick” voice. In any case, the band performs “Nine Lives.” Professional champions Joanna Zacharewicz and Jose DeCamps dance because that’s what they do best. The stars talk about what the week is like for them at this point in the competition. Of course, they go from being frustrated to confused to prepared. There, I saved you five minutes of your life. Tom and Samantha talk to Cheryl & Cristián. Cristián tells us he ruptured a tendon in his arm and will require surgery. The doctor he spoke with said the surgery can be delayed. Tom and Samantha then let us know that Cheryl & Cristián are moving on in the competition. They also reveal that Edyta & Jason are safe. That means the bottom two couples are Shannon & Derek and Marissa & Tony. Finally, we learn that Shannon & Derek have been eliminated from the competition. Shannon says she has made a friend for life in Derek. He tells her she’s a dork and he loves that about her. They are then quickly sent to the dance floor for their last dance. With that, Shannon and Derek’s time on the show as competitors comes to an end. Join me next week as we move one step closer to more filler awarding the disco ball trophy. Jill is an east coast mama who loves Michael Kors, Bea Arthur, and Maksim Chmerkovskiy. If she were in a room with the three of them, she might explode. She can be reached at jillcjones@zoominternet.net to discuss these individuals and other topics. Be sure to sign up for our e-mail update so you can stay informed about new articles on the site!
