“It’s a Very Very Strange Season” – An Interview with Big Brother 10’s Angieby David Bloomberg -- 08/01/2008
View Printable version of this article After Brian left, he told me Steven and Angie needed to stick together in order to continue in the game. They didn’t, and now they’re both out. Angie comments on this point as well as echoing Steven’s statement about a “mob mentality” in the house. Read on! RealityNewsOnline: Hi, Angie, and thanks for taking the time to talk to us here at RealityNewsOnline! Let’s start at the beginning. Did you have a specific planned strategy coming into the game? Angie: Coming into the game, my strategy was basically to try not to put a target on my back, which I failed miserably at; not winning HOH or POV, because it seemed in past seasons those people were the first to go. I really wanted to form one strong alliance with one person and work with other people, and I think I accomplished that but it didn’t work in my favor as far as me being one of the first in my alliance to be voted out. RNO: Did that strategy change once you got into the game? Angie: Absolutely. Once all the campaigning for Brian took place, I had a huge target on my back, so it was crucial that my alliance or myself won HOH or POV and that kind of didn’t come into play. RNO: You mentioned people having targets in past seasons – how much Big Brother had you watched before coming into the house? Angie: I’ve been watching Big Brother since Season 6. RNO: Considering the vote count and your final speech, I’m presuming you knew that you were going home? Angie: Absolutely. I actually knew probably before the nomination ceremony took place – it was the logical thing the house was doing, Brian, Steven, myself. It kind of made things a little easier [knowing that]. There’s a huge mob mentality that took over the BB10 house that is hard to navigate, which is different this season than previous ones. That’s what I was getting at in my speech – that minds could be changed. I was trying to individualize people and remind them only one person can win and [they should] get rid of stronger players at the begin. And it didn’t work. RNO: You mentioned the “mob mentality,” which are the same exact words Steven mentioned to me last week. Can you expand on that? Angie: The mob mentality started when the whole eight of us went up to Jerry and said we know Brian is in multiple alliances in the house. We said we in the group are going to vote him out and we want you to put him on the block or we’ll vote you out next week. It started there and took off. Unfortunately, that mob mentality was kind of led and grew with Libra and April being the glue that’s holding that thing together, when they changed the whole deal and it turned into what do Libra and April want, and everybody followed suit. That’s where it came from and it’s a shame and probably could be more fun to watch if that wasn’t the case. RNO: I have to say, it is a little confusing watching. I’m looking at Jessie vs. Angie and wondering why you are the target! Angie: I cannot explain something to somebody [in the game] who can’t think rationally. For me to try to stay in the game and talk strategy, it was almost looking at a deer in headlights – my words went in one ear and out the other, even though it was common sense. RNO: Do you think Keesha was at all justified in wanting you to leave? Angie: When Keesha and I had a conversation in the HOH room, she basically said she nominated me because of the whole Steven situation and she felt I stabbed Steven in the back and I was in the room plotting – when I was not involved in that. I had multiple conversations with her before Steven left and I never lied to Steven about where I stood with him – we had a friendship but we weren’t in an alliance. Do I believe that’s the only reason? Not at all. I’ll find out when I can watch. Moving forward, I’ll maybe find out. RNO: I’m not sure you will – I watched and I’m still confused! But also, do you think the mob mentality you mentioned explains why the others wouldn’t go against Keesha’s wishes? Angie: Absolutely. It came down to them giving her their word and the whole blow-up about with Keesha. If this is the majority of the house, they’re going to have power because if I go against it, they’re going to throw me under the bus. It’s a very very strange season. I was a little confused myself, I’m not going to lie. RNO: Do you find it ironic that you and Steven were friends with Brian, which was the cause of Steven being voted out, but then you bonded with the ones who sent Steven packing and that was used against you? Angie: Yes and no. Michelle and I made an alliance to be the last two. Memphis approached me and Michelle to say, “Let’s work together until the jury and then revisit it.” Jessie sending Steven packing was not just Jessie sending him packing but Jessie and the whole house. I was already aligned with that group and I already told Steven that I couldn’t help him – I’d already given my loyalty and I couldn’t turn on it because this was our strategy. I guess it’s that whole like/dislike thing in the house and if they feel threatened by those who are not in with them, that’s who they’re going to target. RNO: When I interviewed Brian, he told me, “Watch Steven and Angie – they may separate from one another, but they need each other.” And you guys did separate and went out one after the other. Should you have stuck with Steven? Angie: If I had known what I know now, I would have fought that much harder to keep Brian and Steven in the house. It would have been a completely different game playing with them. It would be a completely different Big Brother house. Brian didn’t know I was in an alliance with Jessie, Memphis, and Michelle. He already knew we were planning on separating, but he told Steven we needed to stick together to move forward. We didn’t do it and look where we are now. RNO: Who do you believe is most likely to win? Angie: If Libra stays in for the next couple weeks, as painful as it is for me to say, she has a good shot at winning, but I also think Memphis has a good shot at winning. RNO: Who are you rooting for? Angie: Absolutely Memphis and Michelle. RNO: If you could go back in time, what would you do differently? Angie: When that whole bully group went up to Jerry, I would never have agreed to that and probably gone straight to Brian to figure out a way to keep him in the house. RNO: Do you have anything else you’d like to tell us about your time on Big Brother? Angie: I’m just happy to be talking on a telephone and be out in the real world and looking forward to going to the bathroom without asking. Just kidding! RNO: Thanks again, Angie! Angie: Thank you!
