“I Won Something Coming Out of This Game” – An Interview with Big Brother 10’s Aprilby David Bloomberg -- 08/25/2008
View Printable version of this article As I mentioned last week in my interview with Libra, Big Brother contestant interviews are now conducted a bit differently since the evictees are headed for sequester. So sometimes, the follow-up question is more difficult to get. But that certainly doesn’t mean I shied away from asking the questions everybody wanted to know about April. Whether she answered them, well, let’s take a look. I’ve also added a few of my own thoughts in italics. RealityNewsOnline: First, let me say thanks for taking the time to talk to us here at RealityNewsOnline! What was your strategy coming into the house, and how did that change once you got there? April: I planned on just staying true to myself and having fun. I accomplished both. RNO: You indicated that you’ve watched every show from every season – how did that affect your play in the game? April: I realized that every season is different, especially when you are taking part in the game itself. You are unable to predict anything in the house. RNO: Do you think that you would have been better off in the game had you not gotten involved in a "showmance"? April: Possibly, but I do not regret the fact that Ollie and I became close in the house. RNO: Indeed, on Wednesday, you said you were the biggest winner in the house because you found Ollie. Is that truly the way you feel, and what do you think the future holds for you and Ollie? April: I do feel that I won something coming out of this game. Now [as] for it making up for the fact of losing $500,000, [I’m] not sure if it heals those wounds. RNO: What kind of reaction do you think you’ll get from family, friends, and viewers, who might have seen your nighttime bedroom activities with Ollie? April: No comment. (Remember that April has no idea that pretty much nothing of the activities in question were shown on CBS. The only way to have known about them was through Showtime or the live feeds. But I find it interesting that she was so willing to jump into bed with Ollie with all those TV cameras around, but not willing to answer a simple question about it…) RNO: How do you think you’ve been perceived inside the house by your housemates, and outside the house by viewers? April: I cannot answer for my housemates nor America, but I hope that they were able to see the fact that I have a big heart and played the game hard. RNO: Why do you think alliances have seemed to shift so much this season? April: There were so many different personalities in the house this season. (Er, yeah, because normally on this show, there aren’t any different personalities in the house at all…) RNO: From your perspective, what were the major power shifts in the game? April: Jessie’s eviction. RNO: What do you think caused the break-up of your main alliance while you were HOH, especially given that everybody had followed Keesha’s orders the previous week (which were, ironically, to keep Jessie)? April: I believe it had to do with the fact that [my] alliance [was] starting to see the close relationship that myself and Ollie had with Jessie and Michelle. RNO: Why were you so hard on Keesha in comments you made about her (such as about her work at Hooters compared to your own occupation)? April: I am sure that the comments made were out of anger in which I was reacting to something that she may have said or did to me while I was on the show. I do not have anything against her working at Hooters. I had worked there at one point when I was in college. (I love it when contestants say they are “sure” that comments were made a certain way, as if they weren’t the ones making those comments! And of course anybody who watched the live feeds or read about them here on RealityNewsOnline knows that April was not always reacting in anger when she made the insulting remarks.) RNO: Once Dan decided not to use the veto, it seemed like you essentially acknowledged that you would be evicted and didn’t fight very hard to stay. Did you think minds were made up and would be impossible to change? April: I did feel at that point in the game it would be extremely difficult to get Memphis or Keesha’s vote to stay in the game. RNO: If you could go back in time, what choices would you make differently? April: At this point I wouldn’t change anything or would have changed everything! (No, I have no idea what she means by that either.) RNO: Do you have anything else you’d like to tell us about your time on Big Brother? April: I loved it!! Thank you, Big Brother!!
