Here Come the Newlyweds 2, Episode 4: Clowning Aroundby Jennifer Tsao -- 06/16/2009
View Printable version of this article As usual, the couples are greeted in the morning by host Pat. Pat gathers the newlyweds and tells them about the next challenge. The couples will have the opportunity to increase the pot, which now stands at $215,000. The challenge is to identify your spouse’s pet peeves. Pat starts with the Hinkins and wants to know, “What is the one thing your wife wastes the most money on?” Sarin says shoes and Jed and says bottled water. Same question for the McMorrises and they get a match by both saying clothes. The Corlisses get a match with rugs. Apparently they have a Chihuahua that ruins all their rugs. I say if your dog is ruining that many rugs, you may want to think about getting a new dog. Or forgetting about rugs. The Iengs both match with food. Seriously? Food? I would love to know what food Michele is buying that Sonarak thinks is a waste of money. The Newberys are up next and it’s a mismatch as Audra says clothes and Rich say shoes. Last but not least are the Huffmans. Brendan shouts out clothes, but Bridget says crafts, so no match. The next question is, “Which is your husband worse at doing: kissing, cuddling, or foreplay?” What an embarrassing question! The Hinkins are up first and Sarin says kissing and Jed says cuddling. Poor Jed. The McMorrises match with cuddling. I have to say, cuddling is the safe answer here. Do the wives really want to insult their husbands’ kissing and foreplay skills? The Corlisses mismatch as Marlo says kissing and Mark says cuddling. Mark gives Marlo a quizzical look, presumably because she just insulted his kissing on national television. The Iengs also mismatch as Michele says foreplay to Sonarak’s answer of cuddling. Did I say poor Jed? I mean poor Sonarak! The Newberys match with the safe cuddling answer and surprisingly, the Huffmans match with kissing. Bridget tells us that when Brendan kisses her it is “emotional and dead inside.” Is she joking? She must be joking. Pat is now going to draw questions out of a jar and ask each couple a different one. The Hinkins are asked which area would Sarin adjust via plastic surgery and they match with breasts. Pat asks the McMorrises, “Which celebrity annoys your wife?” They both match by saying, “no one.” The Corlisses need to identify which physical feature Mark complains about the most and they match with chest. The Iengs are asked how many times a week they would have sex if it were up to Sonarak and they don’t match as Michele says seven but Sonarak wants a couple days off and says five. The Newberys have a match by both agreeing that Audra would least like to have sex in a car given the choice between a car, bed, or kitchen. The Huffmans get the last question about whether Bridget likes the top or bottom least, and they don’t have a match. Pat tells the couples that they got ten matches for $50,000 and the total pot is now $265,000. Pat goes on to tell the couples that tomorrow’s challenge will start today. Everyone looks around nervously. Each couple will be part of a carnival for a local school. The couples will each run their own booth for kids and they will shop for their booths today. The couple that earns the most money at their booth will win safety from the vote. The newlyweds are taken to a flea market to shop. None of them seem to have any idea of what type of booth they want. They are all just randomly walking around trying to come up with ideas. I’m really curious to see what they come up with! The next day, Pat takes the couples out to the carnival grounds and gives each one an empty white booth. The couples start painting their booths. The Hinkins are painting the word “atom” on theirs. The Corlisses have big stars on their booth and the Newberrys are painting stripes. The couples finally finish painting and setting up their booths and we see a mob of kids waiting to storm the carnival. Pat opens the figurative gates and the kids are off towards the booths! The Corlisses have a temporary tattoo booth, and a lot of kids line up to get tattoos. The only problem is that giving temporary tattoos seems to be slow work. The Huffmans have a ball toss of some sort. The Iengs have a coin toss and they look like they are having a ton of fun. The McMorrises have a dance contest but unfortunately their CD starts skipping. The Hinkins have a ball toss booth with free candy. I’m sure the kids’ parents love that! The Newberys also have a ball toss. Pat announces the end of the carnival and gathers the couples to reveal the winner. In sixth and last place with $104 raised were the Corlisses. The Huffmans are in fifth place with $118. The Newberys take fourth place with $131 and the McMorrises are in third with $165. That leaves the Iengs and the Hinkins for first place. Pat tells us that the Hinkins have won with $221. The Iengs are in second with $178. I guess the free candy the Hinkins were giving worked! Pat offers the Hinkins $25,000 to give up their safety. The last time they won, they gave up $15,000 and kept their safety. They do the same this time and give Pat back the money. They’re obviously looking at the big picture. The next day, Pat meets the couples in the backyard and takes them one by one to discuss their vote. This week we don’t get to see who any of the couples vote for. Pat asks the Corlisses and the Huffmans to step forward as the two couples that received the most votes. Pat doesn’t waste any time and he tells us that the Huffmans are going home. The Corlisses are safe once again. Next week, the couples have to experience typical suburban family life as they pack minivans with more stuff than anyone should ever try to fit into a car.
