Reality Rants, July 25 - Special "Latricia Love-In" Edtition!

by C. Brian Devinney and Phil Kural -- 07/25/2005
Brian and Phil are so upset about Latricia's exit from I Want to Be a Hilton that they have made this article a "Latricia Love-In" Edition in her honor! There are, of course, other things to talk about, but they all relate to Latricia!

I Want to Be a Hilton (C. Brian Devinney)

You’re all probably wondering why this is a special “Latricia Love-In” edition of Reality Rants. Well, it’s primarily because our dear Latricia got the axe this week by the evil and vile Ms. Hilton (okay, so she’s not that bad) after five trips to the elimination chamber… or whatever they call that room where Kathy Hilton does her evil-doing eliminations. In fact, in this entire rant, Phil and I will be playing a little game of “What if Latricia…?” pondering for a moment what it would be like to have the fabulousness of Latricia on a variety of reality programming.

First and foremost, let’s give Latricia some credit for working her butt off in every single challenge, but after five consecutive trips to the elimination room and three near-eliminations in as many trips, we all kinda knew that she was skating on thin ice. If Jackaay had been on the losing team, I bet it would have been her getting the boot as well. Then again, there is J.W. and the opportunity to see him shirtless again but that may be asking too much.

This show is not going to be the same without Latricia. I mean, maybe I could root for Jackaay but Latricia really made the show. The one liners, the raised eyebrows, the fierce take no prisoners attitude. She will definitely be missed, but at least we will have her for one more week when we get the interrogation next week.

Kept (Phil Kural)

Shocked! Shocked, I tell you! If you had told me it would be Maurizio going home last week, two weeks ago, I would have told you no way. However, I can understand why Jerry decided it was time for him to go. He’s a neat freak, and very obsessive-compulsive. I am too, and I know how annoying that can be, especially to those around you. Alas, it was sad to see him go, and I would have rather it had been Austen, who I just don’t get. When he was hypnotized and asked who would be most likely to steal Jerry’s money, he replied “How much?” Yet he is still around? All the more power to you, but I just don’t understand.

However, I’m glad to see Seth still hanging in there. I would love for him to win. He has easily been the funniest guy on the show, and I would love to see him rewarded for that. He speaks his mind, he’s upfront with what he’s thinking, and he’s real. I like Seth, and I’m glad he made it this far. I thought he was toast after his disastrous date with Jerry. Austen had a bad date with her as well, and his was even more awkward than Seth’s. For crying out loud, he left her by herself in front of the paparazzi! How this kid is sticking around, I have no clue. If this was Latricia making the eliminations, he would have been gone because Latricia hates fakers, and that’s what I think he is.

Others complain that Anwar is the faker. I think Anwar is real, and I think his crying was real too. Just because he wanted Seth to go home doesn’t make him a bad guy. We all have our opinions. Besides, the guy was hypnotized. I don’t normally believe in that stuff, but whatever. I’ll go with the flow. It’s going to be interesting to see what happens from here. Mark my words though, I think Seth might pull out the win, which will make me happy!

Big Brother 6 (C. Brian Devinney)

First and foremost, they finally gave this show a decent theme song but waited until their sixth season to do it? Remember when they said after the first season, they were going to update the show to make it more modern and up-to-date for the American audience. They made a whole bunch of changes for the better, but the theme song that they proceeded to use for four more years was dreck.

But that’s the smallest of my rants on this show.

First, Kaysar having HOH is just wreaking havoc on the house. Now that he’s put Eric on the spot by nominating two of Eric’s allies, it’s going to be interesting to see what happens when the Power of Veto comes into play. I’m not exactly sure what to think of Kaysar now and will have to wait to see how this week plays out.

Second, Janelle is a whore. I only reserve that term for the people that really tick me off and act like total tramps on national TV. After all, she hooked up in the house with Michael (and whether or not they did more than just kiss some nights has been the object of much discussion on the message boards) and then broke up with her boyfriend on national TV to pursue the guy that she only knew for a couple of weeks. Now that he’s gone, is she going to pull an Alison and find another man to molest and abuse (like Kaysar) so she can stay in the house longer?

Finally, if Latricia was on this show, something tells me that Janelle would have had her hair ripped out by now and the fight between Eric and Michael would have been resolved by her rather than Big Brother. If Latricia told me to sit down or jump back… I’d do it.
