Big Brother 6: I Wanted It To Be Eric!by Phil Kural -- 08/15/2005
View Printable version of this article I have to admit that I wasn't keen on the fact that they were bringing back an evicted houseguest again this season. When Amy was brought back into the house a few seasons ago, I was glad to have her back, but I knew in reality that there was going to be animosity towards her for coming back and that she didn't have a chance at winning. I still feel that way about Kaysar coming back into the house, but this time, I think the wrong person was chosen. I know that apparently more than 82% of America voted Kaysar back into the house, but in my eyes, it should have been Eric, and here's why: There is this huge assumption in America that Kaysar is this mastermind of the house and knows what's going on with every houseguest. I disagree. If he was such a mastermind, and understood the dynamics of the house so well, I don't think he would have been the fourth houseguest VOTED out of the house. When you are a mastermind, and when you are allegedly good at scheming, you are supposed to be able to know when it's a good time to show your hand, and when it's a good time to keep your cards close to your chest. The simple fact is that when Kaysar became the HOH, he flaunted his power, thinking that he was unstoppable and that his reign as the HOH would never end. He should have known that when you are playing the game of Big Brother, nothing is assured and the tide can change so easily. He had to learn that the hard way. Keep in mind that I have nothing against Kaysar. Don't come at me saying that I'm against him because of his religious beliefs. My dad is Muslim, so don't try it. In my weekly Reality Rants, I stated that I was a Kaysar fan a few weeks ago, and that still holds true. He's a survivor, and showed the house that it was easy for someone to go from almost being evicted, to holding all the power. He didn't remember this though when he was HOH, and that is what did him in. It wasn't because Maggie was out for revenge. At least, that wasn't the sole reason. Kaysar told Eric he wouldn't put him on the chopping block and then broke his word. That was his first mistake. His second mistake came when he started flaunting his alliance and saying that they would prevail and be the final six. It was way too early in the game for an assumption like that. Anyway, this isn't "Why Kaysar Lost" -- that's for David Bloomberg to decide. I'm simply here to state why I think it should have been Eric that was voted back into the house and not Kaysar. I have a few reasons, and I'm sure that some will disagree with me, and some might agree. Here's what I have to say about the second part of this situation: To be quite frank, I don't think that Eric stole the hearts of America, as Ivette thinks. Real quick though, since we are on the topic of Ivette, her oozing love for Eric is sickening. You’re a lesbian hun, and he's married -- get over it. Anyway, of all the houseguests this season, Eric has been my favorite thus far, followed by his partner, Maggie. I think they came into the game wanting to stay true to who they were and not turn ugly. When Eric had his spat with Michael, I do believe it was something out of character for him, and I don't think for a second that it's the way he acts outside of the house. I'm sure Big Brother can turn your stomach into a knot of nerves, where tension runs high. Eric is a good guy, I believe that. He had his moments in the house, like everyone else, but I think he would have made a better edition to the game at this point then I feel Kaysar will. I think that Kaysar is going back in with the assumption that he is going to take over again, and even Howie stated that he was not happy with having to think for himself. King Kaysar will return to the game thinking that he's going to change and try to sit back and watch the drama unfold, but that's just not the way it was going to turn out. Eric, on the other hand, I think would have truly learned his lesson and not went on a power rampage. Maybe I'm wrong, who knows, but I think America made the wrong decision. Yes, all 82% of you. I voted for Eric, and I'm proud to say that. I guess what we'll have to keep our eye on now is if it turns out the way I think. Will Kaysar make the same mistakes twice? Will Ivette ever get over Cappie? And can my favorite player now, Maggie, pull out the win? I sure hope so, but like I said, this game is far too unpredictable for me to make a guess!
