Big Brother 6, September 5 Live Feeds: They're Loving It

by Gil Sery -- 09/07/2005
It’s a slow day and the poor cameramen still have a job to do even though it’s Labor Day. The Power of Veto Ceremony means someone new may be put on the block, but whom? For dinner, Big Brother has a special surprise for the houseguests. Who won the POV? Was it used? And what is the special holiday surprise. It’s all inside. Warning: This article contains spoiler information!

Good Morning Houseguests.

It’s about 10 a.m. and Big Brother officially wakes up the houseguests. Apparently, Howie thinks this doesn’t apply to him, and Big Brother has to shout, “I said it’s time to get up for the day!” Having a guilty conscience, Maggie thinks Big Brother is screaming at her and wonders why they don’t know that’s he’s already awake.

It’s not long before the Nerd Herd engages in their favorite pastime – Janelle-bashing. Maggie says she doesn’t understand how Janelle spends so much on clothes and then treats them so poorly. After some more Janelle-bashing, they start discussing strategy. Maggie says next week, if she wins HOH, all bets are off and she’s playing for herself. April doesn’t like the sound of this. Maggie says that as long as Janelle doesn’t win the Power of Veto (or HOH), she’s going home.

When Maggie heads into the Diary Room to change her microphone battery, April accompanies her, and they bash Janelle some more, saying that she has “such a negative aura” and how it sucks that Howie, her only alliance member, is leaving because he’s so funny.

At high noon it’s time for the Power of Veto Ceremony, so of course the feeds go to fish. When they come back, it’s evident that Janelle removed herself from the block and April was nominated in her place.

April and Maggie work out in the gym. April thinks if it’s down to the two of them in the end, that Maggie will get James’ vote. Maggie disagrees and thinks not too many houseguests like her.

Meanwhile, Jedi Howie and Jedi Janelle fight each other with light sabers, apparently trying to fight in every downstairs room in the house. It goes from the Gold Room to the barracks to the Living Room to the kitchen and then back to the Living Room. Jedi Janelle claims that, “Jedi training is a great workout!”

Maggie and April complain that it’s Labor Day, but they don’t get a break. Yeah, because lying around all day with nothing to do but have a camera following you is SUCH hard work.

Howie asks April if she thinks she can win against Maggie or April, but Ivette is not sure. Howie then tells her that it’s time to think of the money now and friends later, because Maggie and April will still be her friends outside of the house. Ivette says she doesn’t think she can win against anyone except Janelle. Janelle thinks she will come in second regardless of who wins.

Of course, it’s not long before Ivette runs to Maggie and tells her about her conversation with Howie. Maggie tells Ivette that Howie and Janelle are trying to break them up and that it’s no good if they know she’d pick Maggie over April. Janelle says she never told Howie that she would.

Howie tries to do a lap dance for Janelle — “tries” being the operative word. So Ivette says she’s going to show him how to strip for his partner. (Hmmm…I thought they only taught that at the Learning Annex.) The others get into the act too. Janelle pretends to strip as well. Howie, however, is not exactly catching on. Ivette tells him that his dancing his about the girl, not about him. She declares him “a disaster” and stops trying to teach him.

April and Ivette are in the hammock talking about who they would take to the end. Ivette tells April that “they” (meaning Howie and Janelle) told her that Maggie and April would take each other to the end and that they want to know whom she would take. Ivette says she hasn’t thought about it (seriously?!) and would just let the game play itself out.

Howie and Janelle are back to their light saber fighting. Howie is also testing Janelle on some questions for the HOH competition. Suddenly, Maggie bursts from the Diary Room and says the Big Brother has a surprise for them… Howie, ever the smart alec, wants to know if Maggie is the new HOH.

As it turns out the surprise is dinner from McDonalds and… the houseguests are loving it! (Sorry, I couldn’t resist.) They start ordering and it sounds like the final order came to 10 apple pies – 2 each (since, as Ivette pointed out, they’re two for $1), five large fries – one each, two cheeseburgers with extra onion and extra mustard as well as a hot fudge sundae for Janelle (if she really is Jewish, I guess she’s not kosher), a Big Mac and Fillet-O-Fish for April, Chicken Nuggets and a hot fudge sundae for Ivette, three cheeseburgers for Howie with a large chocolate milkshake to wash it down. Maggie wants two Big Macs with no meat and no cheese – in other words she wants vegetables and condiments on a bun. There’s fish while Big Brother reads the order back and finishes clarifying it. (There was a little bit of clarification before the fish.) April, Howie, and Maggie all admit to eating fast food often. Maggie says she’s a vegetarian (hence her rather unusual order) so she never goes to McDonalds. I guess that’s why she didn’t order one of the McDonalds salads because she didn’t know they had them.

After Dinner, Maggie and April talk strategy, but they don’t want to think about what would happen in Janelle wins HOH or Power of Veto. They’d rather just get her out. Talk then turns to whether it’s a good idea to believe in the notion that people being good is better than money.

Howie is once again working on Ivette, trying to turn her so that she votes for him. He keeps telling her that she needs to think about the money now and that if Maggie and April truly are her friends, they’ll still be her friends outside the house. Ivette says that if she made it to the Final Two with Janelle, April would be very upset if Ivette voted her out this week and could easily convince Jennifer to swing the vote in Janelle’s direction as payback for Ivette evicting her.

When Howie hears Maggie coming near him and Ivette he ends the discussion. Of course, Ivette tells Maggie everything that Howie just discussed with her. On the way to the HOH room, April tries to find out what Howie was discussing with Ivette, but Maggie lies to April and says it was something about Howie, not about her. A little later, when April catches Maggie in her lie, April flat out tells Ivette that she won’t get April’s vote if she votes to evict April this week. April leaves the HOH room and goes to stew by herself for a couple of hours before Maggie finds her in the hot tub.

Janelle, who had been snoozing in the Gold Room for the past few hours gets up, can’t fall asleep again and walks around. The Fiendship are watching her on HOH and trashing her again. They’re accusing the producers of helping her since she’s won everything so far. They figure the producers might as well finish by helping Janelle win the big prize. Gee, jealous much?

Ivette says she has a stomach ache from the McDonalds. She decides to sleep on the floor. At 3 a.m. everyone is asleep aside from Howie who can’t fall asleep so he goes to eat and work out.

Good night Houseguests (and try to get to sleep, Howie).
