“It’s In Our Nature to Flirt” - An Interview with The Amazing Race 9’s Eric & Jeremyby Jenn Brasler -- 05/19/2006
View Printable version of this article RealityNewsOnline: Hi, Eric & Jeremy! Congrats on making it to second place! Phil was right about you being one of the most competitive teams ever in the race. Why do you think you were cast? What did you each think you brought to the race? Eric & Jeremy: We have fun wherever we are and whoever we are with. We are always ourselves whether they tell us to calm down or not… we don’t care ‘cause we aren’t actors and aren’t fake. Eric brought lotion and gum for the trip around the world. Jeremy thought he brought his brains, but it turned out to be his Speedo. RNO: What was with all the talk about women? Is that how you normally are, or were you playing it up for the cameras? Eric & Jeremy: It’s in our nature to flirt and it’s a great way to break the ice with anyone. Like we said before, we are not acting on the show; however, editing makes it a little bit worse than we really are. We really do respect and treat them well. RNO: How did you go about packing? Did you research how any past teams packed? Eric & Jeremy: We tried to bring clothes for a year-round type of trip with all the seasons figured in. That part was really easy. We didn’t really mimic anyone’s style of packing or anything like that. Just think… cold and hot. RNO: You guys came in first an impressive number of times. What do you think was the main reason you did so well? Eric & Jeremy: We ran everywhere and we work really well with each other. We asked lots of directions that they cut out, but we always wanted to make sure it was the right way. Except for Oman when we were in the desert and couldn’t even find a person to ask. RNO: Is there anything you wish you’d done differently (besides getting the flags right more quickly, of course)? Eric & Jeremy: Not really. We had a hell of a time. RNO: Is there anything you wish you could have done on the race that you didn’t get to do, or a place you wish you could have visited? Eric & Jeremy: Egypt would have been nice. Or a 48-hour pit stop to enjoy the locals more and drink it up with them or whatnot. RNO: Was there a certain point when you realized that you could easily win the whole race? Eric & Jeremy: Every damn day we woke up. RNO: Do you think you were edited fairly? Eric: Jeremy’s always goofy. RNO: Do you have any tips for future racers? Eric & Jeremy: Watch as many previous shows as possible. That is the only preparation that you have. That is what we did, and we did pretty well. RNO: What are your future plans? Eric: I’m moving up to New York to continue a relationship with Danielle from the show. Jeremy: I’m gonna be a comedian and loser the rest of my life. RNO: Are you still in touch with any of the other teams? Do you still hold a grudge against any of them? Eric & Jeremy: We were always good friends with everyone on the show and still are. Everyone keeps in good touch. We don’t have any grudges against anyone on the race or the world. RNO: Is there anything else you want to say to people? Eric & Jeremy: Thanks for watching. Like us or hate us… you would have a great time partying with us. RNO: Thanks, guys!
