The Apprentice 5, Episode 14 Extras: Who’s That Guy?by Jenn Brasler -- 06/02/2006
View Printable version of this article Sean and Lee are in the suite pre-phone call, trying to predict who will be fired. Lee thinks that it’s possible neither Roxanne nor Allie will go. Sean says he’ll be mad if that happens. He notes that there’s a chance they’ll both be fired. Lee says in that case, they’ll be waiting around the suite like idiots. He interviews that he can’t decide who will be gone. However, he thinks he’s the strongest of the final four, and Sean is the second strongest, so he just wants to get going. Funny, I want him to get going, too. After Sean and Lee pick their teams and Lenny assures Lee that he has his back, Synergy gets together to plan things out. Sean interviews that this is a tough task, but he has the best people on his team. He tells them that he wants to delegate a lot of stuff. Andrea will be setting up the time line and schedule before they do anything else. She interviews that she’ll do her best to help Sean win. Sean wants the Barenaked Ladies concert to be amazing. Tarek interviews that Sean has never worked with him, but he wants Sean to feel like choosing Tarek was a great decision. Tammy tells the group that she has experience with non-profit organizations, and Sean tells us in an interview that he trusts her. Whenever he asks her to do something, she does it with charm and finesse. Plus, she’s hot. Not like he needs to say that; we know he likes her. Lee starts off his task by calling Lys (AKA Liz; Yahoo! claims it’s spelled Lys) to set up a meeting. He interviews that he feels unbelievable (ack, flashback to Danny). He loves the NYFD because they’re true heroes. It’s too bad they couldn’t get Steve Buscemi involved with this task; he’s a big NYFD fan, too (and used to be a firefighter). He says it’s an honor to do this event for them. Lenny announces that he’s Gold Rush’s secret weapon. He knows a lot about hockey, as does Pepi, so they’re good to go. Does that mean he thinks Sean might be at a disadvantage if he doesn’t know anything about music? Hockey, schmockey. No one cares how much you know about the sport - it’s about planning the event. Shhh, Lenny. Lee warns his team that he pushes the envelope. He wants to do something crazy. Now is definitely not the right time to do something over the top. Just do what you’re supposed to do and do it well. He interviews that he wants to oversee everything involved in the task. Gold Rush has apparently been told that they need to plan a tribute to someone named Lenny Clarke. Unfortunately, they have no idea who he is. They think he’s a firefighter, probably one who died in the line of duty. They can’t find any information on the Internet. Lenny Clarke, by the way, is an actor/comedian who is a good friend of Denis Leary’s and has appeared on his shows Rescue Me and The Job. Oh, and Googling him turns up over a million hits. Spelling his name Clark instead of Clarke still turns up his imdb listing. So… these people are a little dumb. Pepi notes that Lenny Clarke graduated college in 1972, so he’s young. I don’t know how he got that information and nothing else about him. Lee notes that he’ll look dumb if they plan something in his honor (I guess he means in his memory) and he’s still alive. After Sean figures out just how big his task is, Lee and Roxanne head to meet with Lys. Lee announces that they definitely need to find out who Lenny Clarke is. They want to sponsor a child to follow in his footsteps. Obviously they still think he’s a firefighter because I’ve never heard of people sponsoring a child to become a comedian. Lee interviews that Denis started the foundation after a family member died in a fire. During the meeting with Lys, Roxanne remembers to ask about Lenny Clarke. Lys says he’s a friend of Denis’ and a fellow comedian. She makes it clear that he’s very important to the foundation and the event. Lee mentions that they want to have a moment of silence for him. Lys is thrown by this and asks if the team has visited the foundation’s website. Roxanne finally asks if Lenny will be there; Lys says he will. Not dead after all, eh? After Tammy and Sean do their menu/flirting dance, Lee and Lenny get to work unloading hockey stuff for their event. Lee is worried about the poor state of the locker room, but Lenny doesn’t think that’s something they should focus that much on. He brings up the need to put together gift bags. Lee says they really need to load up the players’ lockers. Lenny says they can do that tomorrow, but Lee isn’t sure they’ll have time. On the one hand, Lenny is right that the gift bags are more important, but on the other hand, never put things off till the next day on tasks like this. That’s just asking for something to go wrong and to not have time to finish something. Lee interviews that if even one thing goes wrong, there might not be a game, and he’ll be fired. Lenny repeats that they can do things tomorrow. Next week, we’ll find out who the next apprentice is. And maybe we’ll see what happens when Gold Rush comes face to face with a guy they thought was a dead firefighter.
