The Apprentice 5, The Finale Extras: Britain vs. the U.S.by Jenn Brasler -- 06/12/2006
View Printable version of this article Only five deleted scenes stand between us and summer vacation. Let’s get to it. First up, Gold Rush is sitting around on the night of the first day, making sure they’ve done everything they needed to do that day. Lee thinks everything is done but Roxanne suggests that he make sure. For example, is he sure everything is clean? Lenny wonders why she cares, asking if she’ll be the one to clean. If not, she shouldn’t bring it up. Of the four people on this team, I’m guessing Roxanne and Pepi would be the most likely to be stuck with the cleaning. Roxanne takes offense and says that of course she’ll clean. Lenny gets all offended and asks if she thinks he doesn’t want Lee to win. Roxanne tells him to chill. She interviews that they don’t need drama, they just need to get the job done. Over at Synergy, Sean suggests having cocktails with some of the executives. He wants to make sure they feel like they’re taken care of and that they’re comfortable with Sean. Tarek, Andrea, and Tammy aren’t invited - they have to keep working. It’s just like Cinderella, only Sean winds up with Prince Charming (AKA Trump). Tarek interviews that Sean is running the risk of giving his employees too much decision-making ability. One of the executives notes that Sean must have a strong team to be able to spend so much time with them. Sean says they’re well-oiled. He interviews that it’s obvious his team is doing everything, but he’s comfortable with this style of leading. Sean takes the Barenaked Ladies to dinner. The band suggests that Sean call his teammates and have them come as well. That was nice of them. Sean calls Tarek first and extends the invitation. Tarek notes that he’s not “dressed to impress” and wonders if that will be a problem. The Ladies overhear and say it’s not a big deal. Sean reminds Tarek that they’re rock stars. While Andrea, Tammy, and Tarek are on the way over, the Ladies say that they know they have stuff to do, but they don’t want the others to resent Sean because he’s hanging out with the band. Tarek interviews that he’s happy to eat with the Ladies because he’s been worried about getting everyone on board with what they’re doing. During the meal, he tells Ed, one of the Ladies, about Trump appearing on stage in a Pontiac. Ed says that they really can’t have the car on stage while the Ladies are performing. They’ll be there to raise money for the WWF, not to make a car commercial. Tarek understands this. So… how about wearing panda outfits? That idea goes over about as well as one of Lenny’s jokes. Later, Synergy goes back to setting up for their event. Sean interviews that he’s proud of his team and he was smart to let go, trust them, and spend time with the executives and the Ladies. One of the guys in the band says that they’ll have to make sure to get the Pontiac Trump will ride in all the way off the stage before the Ladies perform. The band’s manager is not pleased with the way things are turning out. He says it’ll be a problem to have the car towed off while the band is setting up. Sean brings up the panda costumes again, but the manager says they’re more “uptown” than that, especially for this event. He loves the WWF, but there’s a line. Sean quickly drops the subject. Gold Rush’s guests are starting to arrive and Lee has just realized that there are some Pontiac signs that haven’t been set up yet. He interviews that if they aren’t displayed right, the Pontiac executives will be ticked. Lenny thinks the players are more important, which is partially true, but if Pontiac is that big of a sponsor… I mean, remember that annoying Outback guy from last season? Lee doesn’t need that kind of a headache. Lee gives Pepi the responsibility of putting the signs together. Pepi quickly gets to work, lugging everything around the building. Lee spots him carrying something to an elevator and asks how long it will take. Pepi replies, “I don’t know, but you’re gonna name your first child after me.” Heh. I couldn’t decide between two jokes to put here, so you can pick your own: 1) Does he really think Lee won’t name his first child Lenny? 2) Lee would name his first child after Pepi if he knew his name. Pepi is setting up the signs when the Pontiac people arrive. They’re not pleased. One interviews that she could tell this was done at the last minute. Pepi calmly and professionally assures her that he’s on top of things. Elsewhere, Lee bugs him again about the signs and Pepi warns him that the Pontiac people aren’t happy. Lenny says again that right now the players are more important. Do they really need the signs? Lee says the cars will look ridiculous without the sign in front of them. Not to mention that if Pontiac is shelling out big bucks for advertisement, they might actually want to see that advertisement. Lee basically orders Pepi to finish up and Pepi calmly tells him to chill. Lee yells again and Pepi gives him a sarcastic thumbs-up. Poor Pepi. He’s probably wondering how he got pulled into this. So that’s it for this season! Have a great summer… um, and fall, since the show won’t be back until January. I can’t wait to see what kind of crazy people they give us next.
