Big Brother 8

Winning the Game With Vile Behavior: Big Brother 8’s Dick Donato, by David Bloomberg: Dick made it all the way through Big Brother 8 with daughter Daniele and ended up taking home the big prize. But that final vote cannot excuse the way he acted along the way. Dick was one of the most obnoxious, crude, and vile personalities to ever appear on reality TV, and the Reality TV Hall of Shame would be remiss if we did not induct him. Read on to find out all the reasons, including many that never made it to your TV screen.

“It Was Just Me Being Me in the House” – An Interview with Big Brother 8’s Amber, by David Bloomberg: Amber has only been out of sequester for a day, but she has already heard about the way she was portrayed on TV and the controversy that a couple of her comments caused – and she wants to set the record straight. She also talks about her strategy in the house, why she was so upset with Eric, and her thoughts on the whole America’s Player twist. Read on to find out all about it!

“It Was Like a Freak Show in the House” – An Interview with Big Brother 8’s Zach, by David Bloomberg: Zach had an interesting ride in the Big Brother house. He helped create the first alliance, but then was a man without a country for most of the rest of the game. What were his plans? How did they change? How did he survive so long essentially by himself? And why did he think it was like a freak show? Read on to find out the answers to these questions and much more!

“God Ordains Different Things” – An Interview with Big Brother 8’s Jameka, by David Bloomberg: Jameka was notable for many things in the Big Brother house, but her religious beliefs were featured on numerous occasions. What does she think about this? With Dick, of all people, winning, does she still think God had a hand in the results or in the magic ping pong ball? What does she have to say about other players, including America’s Player, Eric? Read on for Jameka’s answers to all of these questions and more!

“It Worked, I’m Here, I Won” – An Interview with Big Brother 8 Finalists Dick and Daniele Donato, by David Bloomberg: Dick and Daniele, the father/daughter duo who made the final two on Big Brother 8, even did their post-show interview together! What did they have to say about their different strategies? How does Dick defend the way he acted in the house? What does Daniele have to say about it? Were they surprised by the vote? They discuss all this and more right here!

Big Brother 8: Dick and Daniele on The Early Show and on the Web, by David Bloomberg: Dick and Daniele had a short interview with Julie Chen on The Early Show, but then an extended one on the web. They talked about their feelings for one another and how that changed over the course of the summer. Plus, what is the status of Daniele and Nick? Read on to find out!

Big Brother 8: Why Dick Won, by David Bloomberg: Dick Donato was one of the most controversial houseguests ever – it seems people either loved him or hated him. Enough of America loved him that they pushed him inexorably towards the final and helped him win the game. But can America be credited (blamed) completely? What did Dick himself do to make it this far? Why did Dick win?

Big Brother 8, As I See It: The Party's Over... , by Eileen Witker: We all knew that a Donato was going to win, it was just a matter of which one. There was also an unusually large amount of revelation in this season's finale, not the least of which was the announcement of the "America's Player" twist. Eileen analyzes the results, inside!

Big Brother 8: Why Daniele Lost, by David Bloomberg: Daddy and Daughter made it to the finale as alliance partners. Obviously, Daniele did at least some things right! But why couldn’t she beat her father in the final vote when he was the most obnoxious person to ever inhabit the Big Brother house? Why did Daniele lose?

Big Brother 8 Finale: Evel vs. Evel Spawn, by Jenn Brasler: The jury members are tasked with choosing between Dick and Daniele, giving us an object lesson in deciding between the lesser of two evils. Will it be Evel or Evel Spawn for the win? And how will the houseguests react to the revelation that Eric’s actions were all guided by America?

Big Brother 8, September 17 Live Feeds: Donato You Wanna Hear Me Talk?, by Michael Augustus Keeler: Dick and Daniele continue to enjoy their time in the house as they anticipate the upcoming final vote. Both have a grand old time talking about various houseguests, and their discussion of the others (to nobody’s surprise) turns a bit coarse. What will Daniele have to say about Amber? And what will the two of them suggest for next year’s Big Brother house?

Big Brother 8: September 16 Live Feeds: Another Day, Another Donato, by T.R. Jackson: Another day of Donatos in the house alone. Why is Daniele upset? Why does Dick think Daniele is wrong? And who can they agree to slam together for the live feed viewers?

Big Brother 8: Monday Morning Quarterback – Who Stole the Tarts?, by AJ Mass: It’s time for the final Monday Morning Quarterback column of the Big Brother season. What does AJ think of the strategy used by the final two and, indeed, everybody who was in the house throughout the season? Who should win it, Dick or Daniele? Read on to find out.

Big Brother 8, September 16: A Recap of a Recap, by Tyler Sandersfeld: Question: How will Tyler make this recap of a pointless episode interesting? A) Write ingenious quiz questions B) Write even more pointless quiz questions C) Streak across the lawn? If you answered C, get your mind out of Zach’s gutter and read this article.

Acting Like a Brat: Big Brother 8’s Jen Breaks the Rules, Gets First U.S. ‘Big Brother’ Penalty Ever, by David Bloomberg: Jen was self-centered from the start of Big Brother 8, something we saw a lot of as the season progressed. But when she was backdoored and it looked like she might be going home, Jen decided the rules didn’t apply to her anymore. She violated her food restrictions, she destroyed another player’s property, and she earned the first (and second) ever penalty handed down on a U.S. Big Brother. There’s even more, so read on to find out why Jen has been inducted into the Reality TV Hall of Shame.

Big Brother 8, As I Saw It: First vs. Final Impressions, by Eileen Witker: Way back at the beginning of Big Brother 8, Eileen told us of her first impressions about the houseguests. Some of those have held up while others were radically different from how the people turned out. Which was which? And how does Eileen view them all now?

Big Brother 8, September 15 Live Feeds: Do or Donato?, by Teeuwynn Woodruff: It’s finally time for the jury to question the finalists! Or is it? A long day passes awaiting the cross-examination. When it finally comes and is finished, who is happy? Who isn’t? Who do the Donatos think has won?

Big Brother 8, September 14 Live Feeds: Yawn, by Jeffrey Clinard, with David Bloomberg: As usually happens at this time of the Big Brother season, there isn’t much going on with the final two inside the house. But because the final two this season are Dick and Daniele, there has to be a bit of father/daughter stuff, right? Warning: This article doesn’t really contain any spoiler information because there isn’t much left to spoil!

Big Brother 8, September 13 Live Feeds: Alone At Last, by David Bloomberg: On Thursday, the house went from three to the final two – father and daughter. What took place as the final phase of the last HOH competition approached? And what did Dick and Daniele do once there were no non-Donatos left in the house? What do they think the jury questions will be like? Non-Warning: This article doesn’t really contain any spoiler information, because there isn’t much left to spoil.

Big Brother 8, As I See It: Frankly, My Dear Donatos..., by Eileen Witker: Dick and Daniele, the villains from Big Brother 8, have made it to the finals. Eileen explains why, unlike some villains, the Donatos will not walk out of the house being loved by the audience. And she has a definite idea of who is to blame for it all. Read on inside!

Big Brother 8: Why Zach Lost, by David Bloomberg: Zach was just two questions away (or a question and a tie-breaker) from making it to the final two. But of course, “because he didn’t get enough questions right” is not the correct answer to the question posed by the title of this article. So what is? What could Zach have done differently? Why did Zach lose?

Big Brother 8, September 13: And Three Shall Become Two, by Sandy Lamparello: It’s the last Head of Household competition of Big Brother 8! It’s Zach vs. the Donatos. Who emerges victorious? Who makes it to the final two? And how much whining will we have to endure from Daniele? Sandy’s here for the last time this season to bring it all to you!

Big Brother 8, Super-Ego: Three’s a Crowd, by T.R. Jackson: Only three houseguests remain, and each has played the game with a different level of integrity and character. What’s working in Zach’s favor the most (other than the fact that everyone hates Dick)? Who does T.R. think deserves to win?

Big Brother 8, September 12 Live Feeds: Final HOH Competition, Round 2, by David Bloomberg: With only three houseguests left, you’d think there wouldn’t be much going on. And you’d be mostly right – except that there is the second round of the HOH competition! Who wins it? What did it involve? And how are they preparing for the final round?

Big Brother 8, As I See It: Who Dey?, by Eileen Witker: Who dey think they can beat dem Donatos? Writer Eileen desperately hopes that Zach is up to the task.

Big Brother 8: September 11 Live Feeds: Let’s See Who Gets Hypothermia First, by T.R. Jackson: It’s the last full Tuesday in the house. How do the houseguests prepare for the special Tuesday live show? More importantly, how do they do in the first part of the final HOH competition? Who wins? Who is just all wet?

Big Brother 8: Why Jameka Lost, by David Bloomberg: Jameka made it very far in the game despite the fact that she couldn’t play for HOH for five weeks. Or is it in part because she couldn’t play for HOH? What did she do, if anything to make up for that? Is there anything she could have done to make it to the final three? Why did Jameka lose?

Big Brother-o-Meter, Final 3 Standings, by C. Brian Devinney: Throughout the season, the Big Brother-o-meter has tracked the ups and downs of each houseguest. Now that we’re down to just three, what does the meter have to say about how likely it is that each will win HOH and move into the finals to win it all?

Big Brother 8, September 11: Playing for Second, by Jenn Brasler: The duo of Donatos dominated the decisions in the domicile during this dreary duration. Will their decisions determine their destiny or detonate disastrously? Did Zach do himself in by designating Dick and Daniele as dual departers? Duh.

Big Brother 8, September 10 Live Feeds: The Final Four Prepare for Tuesday’s Show, by Michael Augustus Keeler: Time is drawing down in the Big Brother house. With only four people remaining, what are the houseguests saying to each other? How is Zach liking his new music as Head of Household? And who is being especially snarky with their comments about the others?

Big Brother 8, As I See It: Are You There, Reality TV Gods?, by Eileen Witker: Dick and Daniele have become awfully confident that no one else can win this game. Writer Eileen is hoping that is exactly the kind of arrogance that makes the Reality TV Gods strike someone down. Could Zach be the one to make it happen?

Big Brother 8, September 9 Live Feeds: The Gloat Before the Vote, by Jeffrey Clinard: The veto competition is done. Does it look like somebody will get vetoed? How is the likely target taking their probable fate? Is there anything else of interest going on with the final four? Read on to find out!

Big Brother 8: Monday Morning Quarterback – The Lobster Quadrille, by AJ Mass: Sometimes, people are called “Monday morning quarterbacks” because they talk about the game after it’s done and see what people should have done perfectly, even though perhaps it wasn’t obvious at the time. In other cases, however, the right path should have been obvious even when it was happening. Which is the case here, and who should have paid more attention?

Big Brother-o-Meter, Week 9 Standings, by C. Brian Devinney: After seeing two weeks of action take place in just one week, and with the crowning of a new week’s HOH, where do the remaining four players stand? Who is in the best position? Who is in the worst? And why?

Big Brother 8, September 9: Table for Four Fools, by Sandy Lamparello: It’s been a crazy week in the Big Brother 8 house! After Jessica’s eviction, a week’s worth of events happened in about 40 minutes, resulting in Eric joining his alliancemate and romantic partner in Casa Sequester. What happened after that? Sandy’s back from the beach with all the details!

Big Brother 8, September 8 Live Feeds: Veto Trumps All, by Teeuwynn Woodruff: The HOH has made nominations. The nominees are not happy. But there is one hope – and one fear – the power of veto. Who wins? How do the others react? How does it change the outlook for each of the players? Read on to find out!

Big Brother 8, September 7 Live Feeds: The D-Vincent Code, by Jeffrey Clinard: Many of the guests are acting like children, and Big Brother is starting to treat them as such. There are arts and crafts and a curfew to go with the HOH nominations. Who wants a book with pictures in it? Who is ready for name-calling? Who is acting like a five-year-old who was refused a third Twinkie? Who gets put on the block? And what is the secret of “The D-Vincent Code”?

Big Brother 8: Why Eric Lost, by David Bloomberg: When Eric was evicted on the heels of Jessica, he told Julie Chen that he had to negotiate more difficulties than anybody else, and that those who evicted him would have been gone if his vote had been his own. Is this indeed the main reason Eric was evicted? Is it America’s fault? Why did Eric lose?

Big Brother 8, September 6 Live Feeds: Bratty Behavior and the New HOH, by David Bloomberg: Shortly after the live show ended Thursday night, it was time for an HOH competition. Who prevailed in what might have been the closest competition ever? What new deals are being hatched? And who is acting like a spoiled brat?

Big Brother 8: Why Jessica Lost, by David Bloomberg: From what we heard from Jessica this past week, she probably believes she lost because of last week’s decision to evict Amber rather than Zach. Is that really the reason or is there more to it than that? Why did Jessica lose?

Big Brother 8, September 6: Gone in a Flash, by Tyler Sandersfeld: It’s double-eviction time. After either Jameka or Jessica flies out of the house, a whole week’s worth of competitions decide who else leaves. Will the saved nominee have only a few minutes to stay in the house? Let’s find out, okay?

Big Brother 8, As I See It: The Daddy and Daughter Decree, by Eileen Witker: Zach thought he was running the house, but Eileen says it was Daddy Dearest and Darling Daughter all the way. Eric thought he knew where he and Jessica stood, but again, Daddy and Daughter decided otherwise. What does Eileen have to say about the action of the past few days?

Big Brother 8, September 5 Live Feeds: Business As Usual, by David Bloomberg: It’s pretty much business as usual in the Big Brother house. Is it clear yet who will be going home Thursday night? Read on to find out!

Big Brother 8, September 4 Live Feeds: The Single Most Boring Day of Eric’s Life, by T.R. Jackson: It’s not the most exciting day in the Big Brother 8 house. Discussion ranges from the number of cameras in the house, to other random bits of trivia, to what to wear for this week’s live show. T.R. is here with all the details.

Big Brother 8, September 4: American Idol, by Jenn Brasler: Dick’s idol is Tommy Lee. Eric’s idol is whoever America tells him it is. Jameka doesn’t have an idol because God says that’s a no-no. Daniele’s idol is Janelle. What happens when the current veto queen meets the real veto queen?

Big Brother 8, September 3 Live Feeds: Quiet Time in a Sleepy House, by Michael Augustus Keeler: The houseguests are at peace and all is quiet in the Big Brother house. But what lurks under the surface? Will the veto holder use it this week to stir things up? Will there be a shift in alliances? Will Eric be able to carry out his America’s Player task? And, what on Earth is Zach doing with his feet?

Big Brother 8, Super-Ego: Good Cop, Bad Cop, by T.R. Jackson: Daniele and Dick have been playing the good cop/bad cop throughout the game – whether intentionally or not. How have these roles been serving them as we approach the end of the game? And what about the others – how would they likely do in front of the jury as things stand now?

Big Brother 8, As I See It: Shocks, Showmances, and Lost Souls , by Eileen Witker: Why is Eileen so surprised by a certain houseguest? What does she hope comes of Eric and Jessica’s relationship (or “relationship”)? And what does she think is Jameka’s biggest mistake to date? Read on to find out.

Big Brother 8: Monday Morning Quarterback – The Mock Turtle's Story, by AJ Mass: Zach had to come out of his shell this week after his HOH win. With everybody telling him something different and Zach trying to think for himself, did he make the right decision? The Monday Morning Quarterback analyzes his move.

Big Brother-o-Meter, Week 8 Standings, by C. Brian Devinney: The Big Brother-o-Meter standings had to wait a little while to determine who ranked where. But now that we know who won HOH and who has the veto power (from the live feeds), things may have settled into place. Or have they? How is the "power couple" ranked now?

Big Brother 8, September 2: Slippery Slope, by Tyler Sandersfeld: In case you didn’t read any of the live feed recaps, we won’t spoil the results of the HoH competition in this teaser. Big Brother 8, As I See It: “Good”bye, Amber, by Eileen Witker: Amber, one of the supposedly “good” people in the house (by her own claim, if not by her own definition), was finally sent packing. What did she show us about herself before leaving? And where do the others stand in Eileen’s mind? Read on to find out!

How far does he go? Does America’s Player reveal all? Speaking of America, who do we want voted out? Does it look like Eric will succeed?

Big Brother 8, August 28 Live Feeds: “Good People”, by T.R. Jackson: Do “good people” bash other players in the house? Do “good people” attack them when they’re not around? Do “good people” gossip about their relationships? Well, Amber seems to think so – because we all know she’s one of the “good people,” but she still is doing all of these other things. What else happened in the house on Tuesday? Read on to find out!

Big Brother 8, August 28: House of Lies and Deceit, by Jenn Brasler: Alliances in the Big Brother house last about as long as a keg at a frat party, so we shouldn’t be surprised that all is not perfect with Dick, Daniele, Eric, and Jessica’s alliance. Will Zach or Amber be removed from the block? Or will the alliance stick it out for another week?

Big Brother 8, August 27 Live Feeds: Drinking Games, Power of Veto Ceremony, Chit-Chat , by Michael Augustus Keeler: It seems the tension in the house is at an all time low. And are the other players handling them effectively? Eileen has her opinion on these two players and more, right here!

Big Brother 8: Monday Morning Quarterback – The Queen's Croquet-Ground, by AJ Mass: The status quo – it’s effective, but dull. AJ yawns his way through a week of non-strategy and passive play that would have made his hair stand on end, if it wasn’t already sound asleep.

Big Brother 8, August 26 Live Feeds: Magic Bottle, by T.R. Jackson: As the number of houseguests dwindle, strategy talk seems to decline as well. Of course, that doesn’t stop the nominees from trying to get the veto-holder to use it on them. And it doesn’t stop one houseguest from telling lies about another. What does a game of spin the bottle say about who will go next?

Big Brother 8, August 26: Naked People!, by Tyler Sandersfeld: Now that we have your attention, you can read this recap of a Sunday Big Brother episode. Dick and Daniele fight. Furthermore, after being on the block three previous times, why was this the time she was sent packing? All in all, why did Jen lose?

An Arrogance-Fueled Horrible Game Move: Big Brother 8’s Dustin Gets Himself Evicted, by David Bloomberg: First, we had Marcellas. He had the opportunity to make himself safe on Big Brother and didn’t, earning a place in the Reality TV Hall of Shame. For several years, nobody made such a dumb move again. So it’s time to induct Dustin into the Reality TV Hall of Shame.
