Does ‘American Idol’ Need “Fixing”?, by Sting7: As season seven of American Idol roars to a close, now more than ever comes contemplation that maybe the formula needs to be shaken up. Some say it needs to be completely demolished and rebuilt. Is there really a problem? Are changes coming? Who is to blame to for slippage in ratings? What does it all mean?
American Idol 7: Why David Cook Won, by David Bloomberg: Where did David Cook come from? Didn’t he know David Archuleta was supposed to win American Idol 7? Apparently, somebody forgot to tell him! So what happened? How did David Cook take the crown that had already been sized for David Archuleta’s head? Why did David Cook win?
American Idol 7: Why David Archuleta Lost, by David Bloomberg: David Archuleta was pre-ordained to win American Idol 7. Many of us said it from the first few weeks of the season. And a whole lot of people said it Tuesday night. But the will of the voter is always what counts on American Idol. And those voters spoke in huge numbers. So why did the vote end up the way it did? Why did David Archuleta lose?
American Idol 7 Finale: So It Is Down To You and It Is Down To Me, by Jenn Brasler: After hundreds of auditions, performances, and minutes of filler, we’re down to the finale and the revelation of who our new American Idol is. Will it be David? Or will it be David? Here’s a hint: yes.
American Idol 7, May 20: Proud to Believe That This Is My Now of Dreams, by Betsy Wasser: It’s time for the spectacle that is the American Idol finale. David Cook and David Archuleta will each sing three songs, included the dreaded Coronation Song.
American Idol 7: Which David Will Win?, by Sting7 & David Bloomberg: The finale everyone has been expecting for weeks is finally upon us! The teenager vs. the bartender! No, not Hillary and Obama, it’s the battle of the Davids. One more David, David Bloomberg and Sting7 predict who will win!
American Idol 7: Idol Ideals for the Top 2, by Tyler Sandersfeld: Well, what do you know? The two Davids actually made it to the finale together. However, only one can win. What should the Davids expect, and what should they do to win? Also, what did we learn from this season’s eliminations?
American Idol 7: Why Syesha Lost, by David Bloomberg: It is indeed the David vs. David finale that so many people expected. Unfortunately for Syesha, that left her out in the cold. After a great run to the end, why wasn’t she quite able to break through into the final two? Why did Syesha lose?
American Idol 7, May 14: David(s) and Goliath, by Betsy Wasser: In the Bible story, a young boy named David defeated Goliath against all odds. This time, the odds favor the Davids – David Cook and David Archuleta. Can Syesha surprise everyone and beat the Davids?
American Idol 7, May 13: The Last Hurrah, by Jenn Brasler: Syesha and the Davids face off on triple-song night, hoping to secure a spot in the finals. Will the Davids do anything special, or just enjoy the fact that they’ll most likely still be here next week? Will Syesha pull out all the stops, or is it too late?
American Idol 7: Which Idol Will Fall Tenth?, by Sting7 & David Bloomberg: The days to the finale are now in the single digits. We are about to have a new American Idol for 2008. This looks like an easy finale to predict? Or is it? David Bloomberg and Sting7 take one more glance into their crystal balls. Which Idol falls next?
American Idol 7: Idol Ideals for the Top 3, by Tyler Sandersfeld: Three Idols. Three songs each. How can David Archuleta best deal with the drama surrounding his father? How can David Cook recover from choosing and not revising Duran Duran? How can Syesha disrupt the duel of the Davids with her history of cliché song choices?
American Idol 7: Ranking the Top 3 – The End of the Road, by Sting7: Now there are only three. Two of them have been prophesied to make the American Idol 7 finale since the Red Sea parted. The Battle of the Davids can commence with round one. Gentlemen, take your corners. Oh yeah, Syesha is there too; but, she won’t be factor. Or… will she?
American Idol 7: Why Jason Lost, by David Bloomberg: This week, American Idol host Ryan Seacrest said the top three were all within a million votes of each other. We don’t know how far back Jason Castro was, but it obviously wasn’t so close with him. What happened to turn him from a golden boy into the guy so many people wanted to go home? Why did Jason lose?
American Idol 7, May 7: Take a Bow, by Jenn Brasler: It’s pretty safe to assume that the Davids will be the last men standing for the finale, though at this point in the competition, you can never be too certain of what will happen. Will Syesha leave us with no women (no cry)? Will Jason finally burn out and not fade away? Or will we be shocked by the ouster of David Cook or David Archuleta?
American Idol 7, May 6 – It’s Only Rock and Roll, by Betsy Wasser: The final four performers sing songs from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. With such a broad choice of music to choose from, song choice gets interesting. But is everyone’s heart still in the competition?
American Idol 7: Which Idol Will Fall Ninth – in Super-Shocker Week?, by Sting7 & David Bloomberg: Tamyra Gray. LaToya London. Chris Daughtry. History tells us that this week is the week when the unexpected really should be expected on American Idol. This is the week that the path to the finale is irrevocably blocked for many worthy contestants. Will this year be the same? Sting7 and David Bloomberg predict which Idol falls next.
American Idol 7: Idol Ideals for the Top 4, by Tyler Sandersfeld: The theme for the week is “Songs that Shaped Rock & Roll.” Who’s still in good shape? Who needs to shape up? How has the history of top four week shaped what could come? How many times can Tyler use the word “shape” in an intro?
American Idol 7: Ranking the Top 4 – Stayin’ Alive, by Sting7: Ryan Starr Syndrome, that little bit of American Idol karma, did come back and whack poor Brooke White, leaving just four Idols to fight for the title. The finale is shaping up to be the battle of the Davids… or is it? Is Syesha Mercado in a position to breakup the party?
American Idol 7: Why Brooke Lost, by David Bloomberg: Last week on American Idol, Brooke made what many thought was a fatal performing error, but survived. This week, she did better and went home. Does this make any sense at all? Yes it does, if you understand the reasoning. David is here to explain it all. Why did Brooke lose?
American Idol 7, April 30: Done Too Soon, by Jenn Brasler: America has lost that lovin’ feeling for one of the Idols, and that singer must take the long way home. Which Idol will be drowning his or her sorrows in red, red wine?
American Idol 7: Was Paula’s Comment Conspiracy or Stupidity?, by David Bloomberg: On Tuesday night, Paula Abdul – appearing to not quite know what was going on – critiqued a performance that hadn’t yet happened. This caused an explosion in the world of conspiracy-mongers. What are they trying to claim? Is it only the fringe? And what might be a more rational explanation?
American Idol 7, April 29: (Neil) Diamond in the Rough, by Betsy Wasser: In a packed episode of American Idol, the five contestants sing two songs each, all by singer-songwriter Neil Diamond. How will they fit it all in? And who will sparkle like a Diamond, and who will be rough?
American Idol 7: Which Idol Will Fall Eighth?, by David Bloomberg & Sting7: It’s on another reality show where the host happily chirps, “expect the unexpected.” Those who were expecting Brooke or Jason to fall to the wayside definitely got a dose of the “unexpected.” David actually got a prediction right last week, but what happens now? Which Idol will fall eighth?
American Idol 7: Idol Ideals for the Top 5, by Tyler Sandersfeld: The five jewels of the season sing the songs of Neil Diamond this week. What should each remaining singer do to make sure each Diamond performance sparkles? And how can Brooke and Jason survive another week after their disastrous outings last week?
American Idol 7: Ranking the Top 5 – Reboot!, by Sting7: Just as Brooke rebooted her performance, is Sting going to have to reboot his rankings? Considering the results of this week, when good performances were rewarded with a trip to the bottom two – or out the door – and performers who did poorly stuck around, how in the world do you rank this? Sting7 is going to try.
American Idol 7: Was Carly’s Exit the Season’s “Shocking Result”?, by David Bloomberg: After Jason and Brooke had big problems with their American Idol performances, how on Earth did Carly Smithson go home? How can such an apparently big surprise happen after she performed so well and two others didn’t? Was this the big shocker we’ve been waiting for?
American Idol 7: Why Carly Lost, by David Bloomberg: Carly had perhaps the best performance of her time on American Idol – and she went home! What the heck happened? Is America on crack? Or could there be underlying reasons for the way this vote turned out? Why did Carly lose?
American Idol 7, April 23: Good Night and Thank You, by Jenn Brasler: Once again, an Idol must say so long, farewell to the competition and no longer be high flying adored. Will false-starter Brooke wonder why we didn’t love her after all? Did one rock and roll too many take its toll out of Syesha? Or will Jason leave us with just a memory?
American Idol 7, April 22: Music of the Night, by Betsy Wasser: The Idols tackle the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber. Randy says that this may be the most technically difficult week of the season. Who will rise to the occasion and who will struggle? Read on.
American Idol 7: Which Idol Will Fall Seventh?, by Sting7 & David Bloomberg: Kristy Lee Cook’s fall had been predicted for weeks. Now that she is finally gone, who will David Bloomberg and the returning Sting7 choose? Could Syesha finally run out of lives, or is there a more likely candidate?
American Idol 7: Idol Ideals for the Top 6, by Tyler Sandersfeld: The six singers still standing seek to survive the songs of Andrew Lloyd Webber. At this point of the competition, after-show career plans could be just as important as success on the show. Who’s got the best chance at a platinum album? Who still needs to define themselves? And what’s so special about this Wednesday for Tyler, anyway?
American Idol 7: Ranking the Top 6 – The Battle of the Davids, by Sting7: Sting7 is back from vacation, and has plenty to say about this year’s Idol. Does he agree with Asher Street’s assessment of the top contenders? What has he noticed since he’s been away? Is there a new number one?
American Idol 7: Why Kristy Lost, by David Bloomberg: Kristy Lee Cook started off well on American Idol, but then fell apart. Just as it looked like she was back on solid footing, the rug was pulled right out from under her. What caused the ironic turn of events? Why did Kristy lose?
American Idol 7, April 16: Fly Like a Bird, by Jenn Brasler: One more Idol must fly like a bird back home as we narrow the field from seven to six. Who will be forced to undergo the dreaded pick-a-group treatment? Who will write something on his hand? And which of Paula’s songs best describes her relationship with Simon?
American Idol 7, April 15: Vision of Love, by Betsy Wasser: For six seasons now, American Idol judges have advised contestants not to take on supreme divas like Mariah Carey. But this week is Mariah Carey week, so the contestants have no choice. Syesha is probably not remotely upset about the theme, but how will other contestants fare?
American Idol 7: Which Idol Will Fall Sixth?, by David Bloomberg & Jenn Brasler: In an unpredictable season, David and Jenn are back to try to make some predictions. Why is it so difficult this season? And does that mean somebody named David could be in any danger at all? Let’s see what they have to say.
American Idol 7, Ranking the Idols: The Top 7, by Asher Streets: Surprise, surprise! The best of the night in the last performance episode was Kristy Lee Cook. Is this the harbinger of a winning surge? How does she fare in the rankings after an excellent week? Can she beat the Davids?
American Idol 7: Idol Ideals for the Top 7, by Tyler Sandersfeld: Just one more elimination to go before the top 12 is halfway done. How important is Michael’s departure for David Cook? Who will face the most trouble with the songs of Mariah Carey? And which female does Tyler deem the safest? You may be surprised.
American Idol 7: Was Michael’s Exit the Season’s “Shocking Result”?, by David Bloomberg: At the beginning of this American Idol season, David predicted there would be a “shocking” result. Until Michael Johns left us, things had been going along fairly smoothly – but this was something of a surprise. The question is whether it was the big shocker we’ve been waiting for.
American Idol 7: Why Michael Lost, by David Bloomberg: Well, that was certainly a surprise! Michael Johns was not exactly on the short list of contestants people expected to go home in American Idol’s “Idol Gives Back” week. But there he went, right out the door. Can we explain this odd turn of events? Why did Michael lose?
American Idol 7, April 10: Idol Gives Back… And Takes Away, by Betsy Wasser: After an elimination-free Wednesday night, it’s time for American Idol to cut someone loose. Who says goodbye? Read on.
American Idol 7, Idol Gives Back: Idolthon, by Jenn Brasler: There’s no American Idol elimination tonight, just an evening of singing and stories. Join the star-studded Idol Gives Back marathon as familiar faces tell us about how we can help those who are less fortunate.
American Idol 7, April 8: You’re the Inspiration, by Betsy Wasser: As the first part of Idol Gives Back week, the Idols sing inspirational songs. Who will inspire people to pick up the phone and vote? Read on to see.
American Idol 7: Which Idol Will Fall Fifth?, by Jenn Brasler and David Bloomberg: Jenn and David are back with their predictions for the outcome of this week’s American Idol. Neither predicted that Kristy Lee Cook would be in any danger with Dolly Parton week, but there she was, in her usual place among the bottom three. Will that affect predictions for this week?
American Idol 7: Ranking the Idols – The Top 8, by Asher Streets: The men are clearly dominant this year, and it’s a David’s contest to lose. Despite early hype and somewhat recent praise, Carly is in trouble. Will she be the first “shocking” exit?
American Idol 7: Idol Ideals for the Top 8, by Tyler Sandersfeld: The Idols give back this week, but one won’t get another week in return this year. With inspiration being the inspiration, will any singers enjoy an advantage? Which pairs of contestants need to watch out for each other? And what did Tyler learn from Syesha’s overly expected choice of “I Will Always Love You?”
American Idol 7: Why Ramiele Lost, by David Bloomberg: Ramiele seemed like she had such potential… but it never made an appearance. Was that the reason for her departure from American Idol, or was there more to it? Why did Ramiele lose?
American Idol 7, April 2: Better Move It On Home, by Jenn Brasler: Once again, it’s time to narrow the field and send a singer on his or her way back home. Those who weighed in on our website mostly agreed that the unlucky Idol would be Ramiele or Jason. Were we right?
American Idol 7, April 1: You’re Going to Dollywood!, by Betsy Wasser: All of the Idols have made it through Hollywood, but can they make it through Dollywood? This week’s songs are all Dolly Parton songs. Who will “Shine,” and who will have the “Tennessee Homesick Blues?”
American Idol 7: Which Idol Will Fall Fourth?, by David Bloomberg & Jenn Brasler: With Kristy Lee having made it through yet another week, David and Jenn are back to make their predictions. Will David remain stubborn and predict Kristy Lee’s demise once again, or will the fact that it’s country week change his mind? Could a definitely non-country singer like Carly be in danger?
American Idol 7: Why Chikezie Lost, by David Bloomberg: Once again, we did not say goodbye to the worst singer of the competition, or even of the week. Even though most people thought Chikezie did a good job on his vocals, he still went home. How could that be? What other factors were involved? Why did Chikezie lose?
American Idol 7, March 26: Proud to Be an American (Idol), by Jenn Brasler: Most would agree that Kristy has overstayed her welcome. But her diabolical strategy (or strategery, if you will) in choosing a song all about loving America may have done the work for her and ensured her another week or two in the competition. Has Kristy’s overwhelming love for America and manipulation let her live to annoy another day?
American Idol 7, March 25: Song Choice, by Betsy Wasser: This week, the Idols sing songs from the year they were born. Some of them choose poorly. Others choose big clunkers. And one of them proved to be an evil genius.
American Idol 7: Which Idol Will Fall Third?, by David Bloomberg & Jenn Brasler: Kristy Lee Cook stubbornly refuses to leave. Will David just as stubbornly continue to predict her American Idol demise? And what will substitute predictor Jenn have to say? Read on to find out what they foresee.
American Idol 7: Why Amanda Lost, by David Bloomberg: Amanda Overmyer was certainly not the worst singer of the top 11 American Idol 7 bunch. Indeed, many of those who saw this week’s performances didn’t even put her in the bottom half. But sometimes it’s not bad singing that gets a contestant sent packing, but rather other factors. Is that the case here? If so, what were those factors? Why did Amanda lose?
American Idol 7, March 19: This Bird Has Flown, by Jenn Brasler: Beatles Night Redux was tough on some of the singers, and many of them could be in danger of landing in the bottom three. One bird will fly away home and not get to go on the Idol tour. Last week Syesha was in the bottom three. Will she be there again this week?
American Idol 7, March 18: Act Naturally, by Betsy Wasser: The Idols have another chance at The Beatles. Some redeem bad choices from last week. Still others struggle to take Ringo’s advice and “act naturally.”
American Idol 7: Which Idol Will Go Second?, by Sting7 & David Bloomberg: So last week, we were pretty certain the Kristy Lee Cook would be the first to go. That didn’t happen. What it shows is that this season could be as unpredictable as we suspected! David Bloomberg and Sting7 brush themselves off and try again. Will Sting7 put Brooke White in the bottom three again?
American Idol 7: Why David Hernandez Lost, by David Bloomberg: David Hernandez was not the worst performer of the night. But losing on American Idol isn’t all about that. What other factors came into play with David? Indeed, could it have been that his name was shared by two of the other guys?! Or was there more going on? Why did David Hernandez lose?
American Idol 7, March 12: Hello, Goodbye, by Jenn Brasler: Just as quickly as our top 12 singers have been revealed, one of them has to go home. It has to be Kristy Lee Cook, right? Right? It couldn’t be anyone else, right? Please say it’s Kristy.
American Idol 7, March 11 – Please Please Me, by Betsy Wasser: This is a big night. Not only is it the first performance of this season’s top twelve, but it’s also musically significant. The Idols will be singing beloved songs from the Lennon/McCartney songbook. Will they please please us, or is it going to be a hard day’s night?
American Idol 7: Which Idol Will Fall First?, by Sting7 & David Bloomberg: With the Season 7 top 12 in place, the competition has begun in earnest! Some of the contestants sailed through to this level, while others have struggled. Who is already vulnerable, and who may be gaining momentum? Which Idol will fall first from the finals? Could it be Kristy Lee Cook?
American Idol 7: Why Asia’h Lost, by David Bloomberg: When it came to predictions of which women would leave in the last of the semi-final rounds of American Idol 7, most attention focused on a couple of the blondes. While Kady did leave (see below), it wasn’t Kristy Lee who joined her – but Asia’h. Given that most people thought Kristy Lee did worse, what happened? Why did Asia’h lose?
American Idol 7: Why Kady Lost, by David Bloomberg: Kady had received some early TV time and actually showed herself to be unique when it came to her impersonations. With these things going for her, how did she so quickly sink to the bottom? Why was it a foregone conclusion that she would fall before the final 12? Why did Kady lose?
American Idol 7: Why Danny Lost, by David Bloomberg: Danny Noriega was all about attitude and personality. But did he show the ability to go along with it? And isn’t showing personality an important factor for Idol contestants? So why didn’t he go further? Why did Danny lose?
American Idol 7: Why Luke Lost, by David Bloomberg: Luke was anything but a surprise – David expected him to go at least a week ago. But what made it so apparent that he wouldn’t have the votes to make it into the finals? Were they small clues or big glaring problems? Why did Luke lose?
American Idol 7, March 6: Don’t Dream It’s Over, by Jenn Brasler: Sadly, the dreams of four Idol hopefuls must end here. But which four will be ousted before the top 12? Has Amanda Overmyer done enough to secure herself a spot? Will David Hernandez’s past come back to bite him? And will Luke Menard surprise everyone by NOT being voted out?
American Idol 7, March 5: Against All Odds, by Jenn Brasler: It’s the last hurrah before the top 12, and the girls need to really shine to make it through. Will Amanda redeem her past couple of performances? Which girl will risk tackling Whitney? And how will Brooke handle Pat Benatar?
American Idol 7: Ramiele’s Photos “Racy” and “Risque” or Ridiculous?, by David Bloomberg: A few websites have been touting newly-discovered photos of American Idol 7 contestant Ramiele Malubay as “racy” or “risque.” But would “ridiculous” be a better word to describe them? David covers the situation right here.
American Idol 7, March 4 – Totally ‘80s, by Betsy Wasser: This is the last chance for the boys to make it to the top 12. What happens when the boys attempt to tackle Celine and Whitney? And who’s still preoccupied with 1985?
American Idol Producer Says David Hernandez Stays, “The Public Will Make the Decision”, by David Bloomberg: Speculation on the fate of ex-stripper David Hernandez on American Idol 7 came to a quick end when executive producer Ken Warwick talked to TV Guide online about the situation. But did he answer all the right questions? Did TV Guide even ask them? Are we at least headed on the right track?
American Idol 7: Source Says David Hernandez Will Perform – But What Criticism Will Follow?, by David Bloomberg: A source told the Associated Press that David Hernandez will perform on American Idol despite his stripper past being revealed. What criticism will this cause to be aimed at Idol and Fox – and is it justified?
American Idol 7: David Hernandez’s Stripper Past Revealed – Should He Be Stripped Out of Idol?, by David Bloomberg: It looks like American Idol 7 semi-finalist David Hernandez used to do a rather different kind of performing – as a stripper! Now that this information has apparently been confirmed, what will it mean for his future? Should he be sent packing by the producers, or should he be allowed to sing?
American Idol 7: Which Idols Will Fall in the Final Semi-Final Round?, by Sting7 & David Bloomberg: There are just 16 contestants left on American Idol. If they can survive one more week, they will make the top 12. Some are, basically, already in. Others will have to prove themselves. Who can make the cut and who will be taking the flight home? Last week, David Bloomberg and Sting7 thought Kristy Lee Cook was toast, but she made it through. Are they letting her off the hook or still picking her as the loser of this horse race?
American Idol 7: Why Alexandrea Lost, by David Bloomberg: Based solely on her performance as compared to those of some other women, Alexandrea’s elimination may have been the biggest surprise so far to many viewers. That makes it all the more important to figure out what happened. And that’s just what David does here. Why did Alexandrea lose?
American Idol 7: Why Alaina Lost, by David Bloomberg: Alaina was one of four blonde women, and it seemed one of them had to go. Why her instead of, for example, Kady? Alaina had a great performance the first week, so why couldn’t she ride on that into the top 12? Why did Alaina lose?
American Idol 7: Why Jason Yeager Lost, by David Bloomberg: David thought Jason Yeager was lucky to make it past the first round of American Idol 7’s semi-finals. So his exit in the second was not exactly a surprise – indeed, it was the only prediction David got right this week! But what happened to cause it? How did Jason contribute to his own demise? Why did Jason Yeager lose?
American Idol 7: Why Robbie Lost, by David Bloomberg: Robbie said on the American Idol Results show that he thought he lost because of a poor song choice. That is one of the items contestants need to be careful about, but was it indeed the main reason? Or was it something completely different? Why did Robbie lose?
American Idol 7, February 28: The End of the Line, by Jenn Brasler: It’s time to cut the field from 20 to 16, which means four unlucky singers will be saying adios to the show. Jason Yeager is a safe bet to be gone. Who else will join him?
American Idol 7, February 27: Ten Up Top, by Jenn Brasler: Never mind that none of the top ten women was even born in the ‘70s. Tonight they’re gonna party like it’s 1999 1979! Kristy Lee Cook was spared from elimination last week, but will she be able to bring her A game this time around?
American Idol 7, February 26: Super Sounds of the ‘70s, by Betsy Wasser: Last week, the boys had their first performance before a live audience, and some of them got some harsh criticism from the judges. Did any of them learn from it?
American Idol 7: Which Idols Will Fall in the Second Semi-Final Round?, by Sting7 & David Bloomberg: The first four eliminations are history, and for the remaining 20 contenders, the heat in the kitchen just got a little bit hotter. Who can show they deserve a space in the top 12, and which Idols will fall in the second round of the semi-finals? Can Chikezie make it easy(er) for himself this time? David Bloomberg and Sting7 examine.
American Idol 7: Why Colton Lost, by David Bloomberg: Like Garrett (below), we didn’t see Colton in the early rounds of the season. Some singers are able to overcome this handicap, but others go home. Why was Colton in the latter group? Why did Colton lose?
American Idol 7: Why Garrett Lost, by David Bloomberg: Garrett’s loss was not exactly a shocker. We didn’t see him in the preliminary rounds of the show, which doesn’t usually bode well. But that doesn’t mean he was on an automatic plane ride home. He could have done more to stay. What happened? Where did he go wrong? Why did Garrett lose?
American Idol 7: Why Joanne Lost, by David Bloomberg: Unlike Amy (below), Joanne did not come into Wednesday night’s performance as a favorite to be sent home. But she sure left the performances that way. What happened? What could she have done differently? Why did Joanne lose?
American Idol 7: Why Amy Lost, by David Bloomberg: David predicted Amy would lose before she ever performed. David again predicted Amy would lose after she performed. Then Amy lost. Now it’s time to delve into the reasons. Why did David (and others) pick her to go home? Why were they right? Why did Amy lose?
American Idol 7, February 21: Narrowing the Field, by Betsy Wasser: It’s time to cut the first batch of contestants. Will we get rid of some of the interchangeable blonde girls or guys named David? And what do the judges have to say about the controversy surrounding past recording contracts?
American Idol 7, February 20: Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, by Jenn Brasler: It’s time for the top 12 girls to show us why they’ve been let into the top 24. Can they bring it? And will we have any reason to remember virtual stranger Alaina Whitaker after tonight?
American Idol 7, February 19: Where the Boys Are, by Betsy Wasser: After seemingly endless audition rounds, not to mention an entertaining Hollywood week, it’s at last time for the top 24 Idol hopefuls to perform. We start off with the boys. Will any stars begin to shine?
American Idol 7: Which Idols Will Fall in the First Semi-Final Round?, by Sting7 and David Bloomberg: The top 24 begins, and while there is plenty that is new about American Idol this season, there are some things that are just the same – like, many finalists we've never seen before. History says these folks are doomed. Will this year be different? David Bloomberg and Sting7 predict which Idol will fall first!
American Idol 7: Contestants to Watch, The Top 24, by David Bloomberg: The top 24 have been chosen by the judges – how did David do in his picking? More importantly, how does he now think the semi-final 24 will do? Who has a good chance of making it to the top? And who just makes him say, “Who?”
American Idol 7, February 13: A Chair is Still a Chair, by Jenn Brasler: …Until an American Idol hopeful sits in it and learns his or her fate. 50 hopefuls enter, and 24 leave happy while the other 26 just leave. The chair will be where they get good news or learn THEIR DOOOOOOOM.
American Idol 7: Contestants to Watch, Hollywood Week, by David Bloomberg: For the past four weeks, David has told us who he thought would do well if they made it past Hollywood. How many of his picks made it through the week? Does he still think they’ll do well? And are there any new predictions? Read on to find out!
American Idol 7, February 12: California Here We Come, by Betsy Wasser: The American Idol hopefuls may think they know what’s in store for them in Hollywood, but this year, the rules have changed. There are no more group numbers, but contestants do have the option of playing musical instruments. Some singers will get an “express pass” to the final phase of Hollywood, but others will have to battle it out. Will David Archuleta make it to the top 50?
American Idol 7: Contestants to Watch, Week 4, by David Bloomberg: David finishes up the audition rounds of his column highlighting those he thinks will go far. And this time, he can’t help himself from pointing out one who won’t. Did he find more good auditioners than last week? Read on to find out!
American Idol 7, February 6: And Your Little Dog, Too, by Jenn Brasler: Twins! Dolly Parton! Pomeranians! Yeah, there’s a reason these people didn’t make it onscreen before now. Get a glimpse of some of the faces we may see in Hollywood, and some of the faces we’ll hopefully never see again.
American Idol, February 5: Georgia on My Mind, by Betsy Wasser: Idol returns to Atlanta, the last audition city. We’ll see a beauty queen, a guy who lives in his car, someone who thinks he can beat Simon in a battle of wits, and a woman who Randy describes as a “rock and roll nurse.” Is “Rock and Roll Nurse” a good audition or a good name for a late night pay-per-view movie? Find out right here.
American Idol 7: Contestants to Watch, Week 3, by David Bloomberg: After the third week of auditions, David continues his column with thoughts on possible semi-finalists. Elizabeth Eckert got a little confused about what show she’s on, but David has several reasons to support her. Unfortunately, there weren’t a whole lot of others he could get behind in this third group.
American Idol 7, January 30: Little Miss Sunshine, by Jenn Brasler: The auditions continue in the Sunshine State, and yes, Miami does have a mixture of good singers and people we’re supposed to laugh at. Can former boy-band members rock? Can an American Juniors star make it in the big leagues? And can short people sing as well as tall people, or is that crazy talk?
American Idol 7, January 29: From the Heartland, by Betsy Wasser: American Idol heads to Omaha and is predictably filled with small-town singers with big city dreams. We’ve got pretty girls singing like Celine Dion, shy farm boys, awkward weirdos, and the usual sob story. But we also have Ryan sitting in Paula’s seat, so at least that’s new.
American Idol 7: Contestants to Watch, Week 2, by David Bloomberg: After the second week of auditions, David continues his column with thoughts on four contestants we should watch as possible semi-finalists – plus two he thinks won’t make it. Where does he think Carly Smithson, formerly Hennessy, will fit in, given that she already released a CD several years ago?
