Did Survivor Contestant Belong on Temptation Island?

Did Debb Eaton, of Survivor II belong on her own private Temptation Island instead?

One who you probably would not have considered for the sleazy Fox show is Debb Eaton, a 45-year-old prison guard. That would be your mistake, for it seems that Eaton has already been through her own real-life version of the show.

The New York Post has reported (January 15) on news broken by the National Enquirer that Eaton apparently plans to marry her own stepson, who is 11 years younger.

According to the article, Eaton's stepson, Bobby, had been married but separated in 1997. His father, Eaton's husband, died that same year (Eaton and Bobby's father had been married for approximately 15 years). Bobby then moved into Eaton's house, apparently for reasons unrelated to the later romance that sparked between them.

Obviously, some people are rather appalled by this state of affairs. Others say that as long as they are happy, it seems fine. After all, even at 11 years difference, Bobby (contrary to his boyish-sounding name) is in his mid-thirties and has even been married once already. This is not the story of an adult seducing a child, but two consenting adults who have apparently fallen in love.

Still, the overwhelming urge to respond by saying, "EW!" is definitely there. It seems like the two of them were placed in a situation – living together – where temptation might strike, and it did. I bet Fox executives are just kicking themselves for not thinking of this one first.

But CBS officials probably aren't too thrilled by this news. They had media problems right off the bat with the first series of Survivor when Rich Hatch (not known at the time to be the winner) was accused of abusing his adopted son. While the charges were later dropped, it appears that Hatch may still be having problems with his son, according to information in The Stingray. What is it with Survivor contestants and their kids?

Perhaps we should take this as a sign that Eaton will be the big winner. While it would certainly help pay for the wedding, it would also focus more attention on this rather strange relationship.
