We're down to eight contestants trying to find out who indeed is tough enough. And when the going gets tough...the tough apparently goes to the Bahamas. More on that in a bit.
Kurt Angle - Former WWF World, IC, and European Champion. King of the Ring in 2000. Won the gold medal in wrestling in the 1996 Olympics.
I actually learned something new. Apparently after Kurt Angle's initial meeting with the McMahons in 1996, he and his agent laughed and tore up the contract they sent him. Angle spent his entire life hearing how professional wresting was a joke and "fake." It was an insult to him and all other amateur wrestlers. It wasn't until he sat down to actually watch RAW IS WAR two years later that he got hooked. Angle was surprised at the athleticism the wrestlers displayed. The trainees were in awe. Then they got sent to the Bahamas for a vacation.
Now, I'm sure there are wrestlers and wrestling fans alike who are kvetching about this. After all, real people training to wrestle don't get to take time off to heal and they sure as hell don't get a vacation. We've already accepted the fact that this is an unfair opportunity. It's also unfair that our president cheated to win the election, that Dale Ernhardt Jr. was given a victory, and that I can't find a job. Life is unfair, get over it. Not to mention that there isn't a single wrestler or person training to be a wrestler that would have passed on the opportunity to take the easy route. And that's about all I have to say about that.
This week's victim was Paulina. Apparently Paulina messed up her knee and didn't tell anyone about it because she didn't want to be taken out of the competition. When you're a professional wrestler, stuff like this is considered heroic. When you're training to be a wrestler and you body is already messed up, it's not one of the smartest things. When the MRI came and said that here knee is all sorts of screwed up, she made the decision to leave the competition. We're now down to only two females.
