Monica seemed to be one of the most stable people in the Big Brother 2 house. But lately, she seems to be losing it. Looks like it's time to go.
I am disturbed about Monica. I think she’s finally cracked. So what? So this – Monica has been playing the game correctly all along, until last week. Why is she failing?
As I said in a previous article, with all the backstabbing going on in the house, I know I would have had an ulcer if I was in there. It takes a very strong person to be on one of these shows, and I thought Monica was one of the strongest ones I have ever seen on TV. Indeed, she has a lot to be strong about. Her bio says she is a literacy volunteer and works to help women get off welfare. Very admirable, and very tough. I myself have been a literacy volunteer, and it can be very rewarding and very very difficult. Helping women get off welfare – I do not care if you are to the right, left or center politically, you really have to admire Monica. These are not the type of volunteer things I would expect most of the current BB players to participate in, as they are way too selfish to really help others.
I also liked the way Monica has with people. Several instances stand out. One is when Justin was evicted and Bunky was crying. Monica said to cry, let it our for an hour or so, but once it was done, it was done, closed forever. Smart woman.
She had also been great in the way she builds people up in the house, such as Bunky and Krista. Her opinions of the other houseguests have been spot on. Up until last week, I had not heard anyone say anything bad about her. Now how many people in the house can say that? Sheryl might have been the heart of the house, but Monica was it’s soul.
Last week was a tough week for Monica. She woke up one morning to find Krista and Nicole wanting to talk about voting. She was quite annoyed. She wanted to go back to bed and not deal with talking about this first thing in the morning. I paid no heed to this, because frankly, how many people are real morning people? How many people need coffee before they can think straight?
She really blew her top later when Kent told everybody to not take out their anger at him on Bunky, and then ripped into Bunky himself, who had not been involved with it at all. The next episode showed her losing her temper with the rest of the house – telling Will “it’s on,” and the like. And then she was nominated for eviction and it looks like she may very well be the next to go. Nicole did the correct thing by nominating her, because if Monica was HoH she would have nominated Nicole. Both are threats to each other with the game half over. It was the correct thing for Nicole to do.
I do not need Uri Geller to tell me it looks almost like a dead cert that she will leave this week. The only other eviction I am more sure of will be that of Ophelia the pig on Tuesday’s show. And I feel bad for Monica; I would love to see someone like her, with her abilities, strength, and empathy, win. I am sure the house has been making her crack just like it tends to alter the personalities of everybody in it.
But in the end, what can you say about Monica? That she is a strong woman and should be a positive role model. That she has street smarts, because frankly you need that as well to survive in Brooklyn or any of the other four boroughs. And, as Mike said before his eviction, in order to win, all the remaining contestants will have to turn on each other – something which they are doing now, much to Will’s delight. And maybe with that happening, it might be for the best that Monica is not there when the house that Big Brother built comes crashing down.
