WWF Tough Enough Champion Maven vs. The Undertaker

by Mike DeGeorge -- 07/10/2002
If you didn't look ahead to this "spoiler" material before Thursday night, you can see it now because the match has been shown.

As discussed in a previous article this week, Maven was scheduled to fight The Undertaker on Smackdown Thursday night.

Maven fought The Undertaker for the Hardcore Title Belt. As you may know, the hardcore belt is fought under no-disqualification, anything-goes rules. Maven was accompanied to the ring by Al Snow (one of the trainers from Tough Enough). Undertaker fought both Maven and Al, even stopping a two-count at one point so he could further punish Maven. Suddenly, The Rock hit the ring and nailed Undertaker with a chair. As you may remember, I mentioned that The Undertaker and Rock would be fighting at next Sunday’s Pay-Per-View telecast.

After the chairshot, The Rock hit Undertaker with a ‘Rock Bottom’ uranage suplex, and Maven pinned Undertaker to win the WWF Hardcore Title!

I remain very surprised and delighted that the WWF has seen fit to push Maven, first with a spot in the Royal Rumble, then a title shot, and now his first championship belt. Interesting times ahead with Maven, to be sure. Don’t forget to keep checking RNO for all the latest Tough Enough news. And be sure to watch the Tough Enough 2 Casting Special February 28 on MTV!
