Take a Survivor Adventure Vacation!

by Paris Cosby -- 02/24/2003
Are you a Survivor fan looking for a new type of travel experience that goes off the beaten touristy paths? You can now sign up for adventure travel led by former Survivor contestants!

If you are a Survivor fan and are looking for a new type of travel experience, I've got a great idea for you! G.A.P Adventures, a Toronto-based company, is offering Evotreks, which will be tours led by former Survivor cast members. Evotrek was named for the "evolution of adventure travel." The first Survivors that will be participating in the tours are Robert, Hunter, Kathy (all from Survivor: Marquesas) and Lex (Survivor: Africa).

It's not just a vacation, however. The tours will include up to 36 people that will be divided into three tribes. Each tribe will be led by a former Survivor. There will be competitions, races, scavenger hunts, etc., with each tribe earning points when they win. It won't be exactly like the television show because it is a vacation and you won't be playing for any money. There will be food and no one will be kicked out of the tour. It's all for fun! Sort of.

G.A.P. Adventures stands for Great Adventure Person and, as their website states, "if you seek authentic eco tours and adventure travel, rather than tourist resort isolation, value rather than luxury, and want to share that experience with like-minded travelers, then you may be one of us." As you can see, It won't be a night at a luxury hotel. You may very well be sleeping in a tent in the jungle.

The first tour will head to the Amazon. Subsequent trips are planned for Ecuador, Belize, Costa Rica, and The United States. The first tour is scheduled to take place in the Spring. If you want to be a part of the first tour, you might want to book soon because there are only 36 spots open and I imagine when the word gets out, they will fill up rather quickly. I'm not sure of the cost but you can contact G.A.P. adventures at www.gap.ca for more information. Brochures will be available in April of 2003 but you can receive an advanced copy if you contact the company.

Bruce Poon Tip, the president and CEO of G.A.P., has worked with Survivor producers in the past as a consultant and was the one who came up with the new Evotrek Adventure Tour - which I think is pretty cool! I want to be on Lex's team! I can definitely see myself kicking some butt and slitting some throats in a beautiful and exotic location with Lex as my leader. Enjoy!
