Big Brother 4, August 5: Dana’s Last Standby Paris Cosby -- 08/06/2003
OK, instead of recapping everything that went on Tuesday night on Big Brother, how about we just say, "Dana's flipping out, Dana's flipping out, Dana's flipping out!" and call it a day. No? Okay, on to the show then... Nathan isn't happy with Alison's decision to nominate Jun instead of Justin. He feels that if one of "them" win HOH next week that he'll be up on the block. Umm, yeah! I think that's a foregone conclusion. Dana, meanwhile, is loving the fact that Nathan is ticked off at Alison. Stop the presses! Something's gone awry! Dana is happy? Oh, but it's at the expense of someone else's misery so I guess that doesn't veer too far off the course. Now Dana is whining and we're back to normal. Jun is keeping her in line telling her that she did the same thing by betraying everyone the week she was HOH. I think Dana may conveniently forget that or she rationalizes it. I'm not sure but either way, she sees this mess as Nathan's fault for Vetoing Alison and not hers for putting up Alison to begin with. We move out to the backyard now where Nathan, Erika, and Jack are discussing Alison's nomination choices. They don't understand why she did what she did and Jack feels like he's on clean-up duty. They note that everyone is playing a very emotional game this year. Nathan mentions that if he wins the Golden Veto, he may take Dana off the block. Nathan! Are you on crack? You should take Jun off if you win it. I swear it makes less sense to me each time I watch it. Jun is one of the only stable players in this game, as is Jack. They are both playing the game very well – especially Jun because she has both sides trusting her even though she moves between them quite easily. I'm not a huge Jun fan but I think she'll be sticking around for a while. I'm not sure if Alison is just stupid or whether she is a pathological liar. She's shown making her deal with Justin (not to put him up) and then she's shown telling Nathan, Erika, and Jack that she will put him up if someone is vetoed off the block. Maybe I didn't understand her deal with Justin but she seems to lie a lot. I think she may sail through though once Dana is gone. Everyone is now sitting around in the living room playing cards and are discussing who has been making out with whom. I swear this year is like one big drunken fraternity party! Amanda and Dave, Justin and Dana, Nathan and Michelle, Alison and Dave, Alison and Nathan, Alison and... oops, maybe that was it. Alison denies making out with Dave. How does she think no one knows this? She is in the Big Brother house with cameras on her 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Infrared cameras as well! The apology she gives to Donny (her “boyfriend”) in the Diary Room is just ridiculous as well. I don't even think Donny is her boyfriend anymore. Dana is now out on the basketball court with Erika. She just can't believe or figure out how this all happened. I wonder! I have no idea how this is a shock to her. She is saying that Jun isn't a strong competitor and she shouldn't be up on the block. I think that saying Jun isn't a strong competitor is like saying there are no peanuts in peanut butter. Jun's definitely working it, just not as openly as Dana plays. We have a nice brotherly love moment now between Jee and Justin. It's actually quite cute the way they tease each other. Mostly Justin teasing Jee about his accent. It's all in good fun and both boys do genuinely like each other. It's nice to see people actually getting along in this house. Dana's whining now to Jack and Erika. She never stops! She honestly doesn't realize that she did this to herself by her actions last week. Jack and Erika listen to her and try to console her but once she's gone, it's eye rolling time and head shaking time. These two are like the babysitters of the house, it's nuts! They do seem to really be thinking in this game though. And Jack's one liners are hilarious! I loved the "Oh, Alley-cat, what did you do? It's like shooting a water pistol at a Buffalo." He seems so serious and Mr. Ex-FBI agent but then he comes out with some of the funniest things I've ever heard! I'm sure Chiara isn't feeling so bad about her "Chiwhora" nickname now that Jack has labelled Dana as having "the sex appeal of a buzzard's crotch." It can't get any worse than that, can it? Jee and Jun share a moment outside in the backyard. She's decided that her ice towards Jee is melting. I think these two do care for each other but not in a romantic type of way. I think they share a little bit of friendship and I also think that Jun feels motherly towards Jee. She takes care of him it seems. Good Lord, Alison is now comparing Donny's picture to Nathan and asking who is better looking. Are we 12, Alison? Justin pipes up with "Donny!" but I think it's more to harass Nate than anything else. Then we move into Nathan being a pretty boy who wears make-up and has his nails done. He's "definitely in touch with his feminine side" the HouseGuests say. I don't think Nathan is gay but then again, I don't know that he isn't. Alison thinks she "turned him gay." Please, Alison! Even if you could turn people gay (which you can't), you wouldn't be the one to do it. It must be "be nice to the exes" night on Big Brother because now Erika and Robert have a nice moment on the hammock. They seem to be getting along. I really like this ex-factor. It's worked out quite well. Maybe there isn't as much drama as they expected (now that Scott is gone) but then again, with Dana in the house, I'm not sure any more could really be tolerated! We move to Jee now who is visibly upset. Robert assumes that he misses his girlfriend and tries to console him a bit, but Jee says that, "no, that's not it." It's the anniversary of his father's death and he's taking it a little hard this year not being able to be with his family. Robert does his best to console Jee and he is very genuine about the whole thing and, I think, makes Jee feel a bit better. Jee says that he'll be performing a ceremony later on that evening to honor his father's memory. The ceremony involves placing a picture, incense, and his father's favorite food and drink on a table. Jee chooses apples and oranges. Jun is helping him prepare for the ceremony and this is where I can see how she sort of takes care of him. She asks Jee, "What does your mother usually do?" He answers, "She peels them." She then says, "Then I'll peel them." Jee was saying, at first, that it didn't really matter but Jun did think it mattered that it was done the exact (or close enough) way his mother did it. We get to see Jee perform some of his ceremony and it's a very touching moment and one I'm glad wasn't left on the cutting room floor so we could see more of Dana's ranting, which is where we're headed now... Dana wants to play superhero. Give me a break! This woman's ego is bigger than that whole freaking house! I don't think I've ever come across a more annoying person than her. Honestly. I can find no good in her and I've tried. She annoys the crap out of me. And it's not just in the editing because I've been keeping up with the live feeds and it's no different there. Please, please, please don't let her win that Veto! The Veto competition this week is like a giant memory board of sorts. The HouseGuests each went into the diary room and chose four squares on a board and wrote their names in there. There pictures go on the corresponding squares on the giant board outside. If more than one HouseGuest chose the same square, there will be more than one picture under it. Each square is covered with a large piece of sod. I think the game is called "Snake in the Grass." They each take turns lifting off a square and when all four of their pictures have been uncovered, that person is unable to win the Veto but can still eliminate other people. Got it? Good. Then we'll start with Justin. He uncovers Erika and Nathan. Apparently they both picked the same squares. Robert is the next to uncover a face and it's a giant picture of Justin's head! Jun and Dana (the nominees) picked three out of four of the same squares. It's fairly easy to eliminate them, however Erika and Nathan are the first eliminated followed by Jun and then Alison. Alison then takes out Dana saying, "If I can't win it then neither can she... Sorry, lady!" Kind of snotty, however. So, Dana is out and then Justin followed quickly by Jack. Jee and Robert are left and Jee decides he doesn't want the pressure of having the Veto and uncovers his own head, leaving Robert to uncover the final Jee picture and become the winner of the Golden Power of Veto. Now, will he use it? He's on Dana's "team" so to speak but Jun is as well. Dana has found the entire thing ironic because she saved them and now they can save her. UGH! Shut up, Dana! Shut up, shut up, shut up!!! She doesn't, though. She goes on about how it's the noble thing for them to save her. At least one of them wouldn't be in the house without her. Robert is pretty sure that Dana will ask him to use the POV on her. She only cares about herself. Admittedly, in this game, she should only care about herself but not make it quite so obvious. Now she is imitating Alison when Alison uncovered Dana's last picture. She is hopping around like a six-year-old doing the pee-pee dance and shaking her head and rolling her eyes. She is making herself look even more like an idiot. Dana is now whining to Justin, this is her 11th hour and she'll be working it. Justin says that Dana is an awesome person but he won't sacrifice Robert or Jee based only on his personal feelings for Dana. Justin is a smart player, I think. And, he's one of my favorite ones despite what he sees in Dana. Dana has moved on to Robert with the whining now telling him that she saved him. And finally some more whining from Dana but this time to Jun. It never ends! Jun is worried that Robert may actually use the POV just to catch everyone off guard. I, for one, certainly hope he does not use it! It's in his best interest not to. If he does, then undoubtedly Justin will be nominated and he'll lose a stronger member of his alliance. It's time for the Veto meeting now. When given the chance to speak, Jun says that of course she thinks Robert should use the Veto on her. She doesn't like being on the block; but, if he doesn't, she's cool with that too. She actually isn't cool with that but it's part of the way she's playing the game. Dana, on the other hand, tries reverse psychology on Robert and takes a stab at Nathan in the process. She says that she doesn't want Robert to use his POV on her and that he has honor pumping through his veins. He should be a man and let the game play out unlike Nathan last week. In the end, Robert chooses not to use his POV to save either lady and pretty much secures Dana an in-person interview with Julie Chen Wednesday night. In the Diary Room, Dana says that she believes Robert should have used his Veto on her. Ugh! She makes me crazy, this woman! She has, however, started thinking that maybe she will stay in the house. Maybe Jack and Erika will keep her around to help get rid of Nathan and Alison. It's all about Dana, I'm telling you! Make it stop!!! Ahhh, there's the credits. On to the live show! Chant with me...
