Big Brother 4, September 7 Live Feed Highlights: A Lot of Hot Airby David Bloomberg -- 09/09/2003
It’s Sunday – and time for the blimp trip for Jun and Alison (which they won in the luxury competition on Saturday). The two women try on various outfits for the trip, and Jun has blimped up a bit herself as she complains about her skirt not fitting right. When the two winner are gone, that leaves the HOH and, well, a loser. Or at least that’s how Erika feels – like she’s already lost. Rob tries to cheer her up and say she could still make it, but she doesn’t think so. Rob says that Alison feels safe with Erika and trusts her. I don’t think Alison trusts anybody. Still, they talk for quite a while (since they don’t have to worry about anybody overhearing them) and try to anticipate how Alison’s thought process might work so they can convince her to pick Erika. At one point, Erika makes what she says is a joke about what would happen if the blimp crashed with Alison and Jun on it. I believe I heard a cheer from live feed viewers across the country. After a while, the blimp shows up over the house! A message scrolls across congratulating them for making it into the final four. They wave towels around so Alison and Jun can see them from above. Of course, talk turns back to strategy and the game. Rob says that if Erika sticks around and he leaves after this week, he will push the Dream Team to vote for her. Rob adds that of all the women in the house, he didn’t admire a single one of them except her. Flirting? Hmmm. A little bit later, Alison and Jun return from their blimp ride. Jun says she got sick while Alison says they were stalked by an Internet weirdo (apparently she can tell just by looking). They also saw Jay Leno driving around. In the blimp itself, they went over Dodgers Stadium, the Playboy mansion, etc. The ride was about three hours long (…a three hour tour… a three hour tour… sorry). They got to see what life looks like outside the Big Brother house, with all the competition stuff stored around the area. After a while, Jun changes her story and says she didn’t actually get sick, just felt a little sick. But she’s okay. Erika privately says that she knew Jun would get sick – it’s called karma. Heh. Once dinner is over, it’s back to plotting. Erika tells Rob that he should work on Alison and try to convince her that eliminating Jun would be getting rid of strong competition and the jury would appreciate anybody who took her out. Rob indeed gets Alison alone and tells her to go with her feelings (“trust your feelings, Luke!”). She says she doesn’t have any – no matter who she evicts, somebody is gonna be mad at her. Oh, she underestimates people. Lots of them are already mad at her! She goes so far as to ask Rob who he would vote out if he were controlling her vote right now. He quickly says Jun – that’s why he put her up to begin with! Alison, however, doesn’t exactly look like she’s leaning towards keeping Erika. In fact, she says that if she lost to Erika in the finals, she would shove her foot up Erika’s ass. Nice. Alison is such a charming young woman. Rob talks to Erika when Alison is summoned to the Diary Room. He tells her that he thinks he convinced Alison to keep her around. He takes the opportunity to hit on her some more, saying if she wins and isn’t dating anybody, she should take him to Vegas. She responds something on the order of, “Hello? We broke up!” Alison seems less than convinced, however, when she talks to Jun. She says she knows Jun would take her to the finals because Rob can beat her. So she figures she’s got to keep Jun around if she wants to make it to the finals. In an interesting inside look at the production of the show, we find out that somebody in the Diary Room lectured Erika (and possibly some of the others) a bit about the attitude they took about the blimp ride prize. As you may recall, they were less than thrilled when it was revealed as the luxury on Saturday. In fact, they needed at least three takes with Rob reading the info about the challenge so they could seem excited for the cameras. Anyway, they tell her that this isn’t The Price Is Right and they don’t know what their problem was. Erika had replied that last year the contestants got a car and money. Harumph. After various other minor conversations, it’s time for bed. Want to keep up with important events in the house?
