Another ‘Apprentice 2’ Challenge: Selling Crest, But Somebody Doesn’t Sparkle

We’ve had another Apprentice 2 spotting. If you didn’t know about the first one, which involved Yu Gi Oh cards, you can click here now. As for the second, it comes to us from a New York gossip columnist in the Daily News, who reported yesterday on a new challenge involving Crest toothpaste.

According to the article, the teams of Apprentice-wannabes were to sell new Crest Whitening Expressions Refreshing Vanilla Mint in Washington Square Park. The toothpaste even came in scratch-and-sniff boxes.

Last year, we saw contestants hire out some of the tasks, such as when one team hired a contractor to help them refinish an apartment. It appears that this year, one team had a similar idea as far as avoiding basic labor. The Daily News article reports that they hired a “plump 51-year-old woman” to lug boxes from their truck, and paid her a whopping $20.

The description given in the article – even if we take into account the fact that NYC gossip columns might just exaggerate a little – makes it look like perhaps the woman was homeless. She was heard to mutter about how she had to do a good job for Crest and supposedly “tumbled over and began to roll around on the ground, chanting ‘Crest! Crest!’” According to the story, she eventually passed out, then vomited when she woke up and asked for her money. (Hence the reason I suspect she is homeless – I don’t know too many people who would go through all that and care about 20 bucks.)

After all was said and done, Carolyn showed up and asked “which idiot had recruited the hapless worker.” If she really said “idiot,” I hope it makes it on the air! Indeed, the whole sordid incident might, as the article reports that indeed the entire scene was taped. Mind you, Crest might not be too happy about it, so we’ll probably only see snippets.

It’s safe to say that if this team lost the challenge, whomever hired the woman will be hearing, “You’re fired!” Hopefully, Carolyn will add another, “you idiot” to the end of Trump’s statement.
