America’s Next Top Model 3 begins this Wednesday, September 22, at 8 p.m. Phil is here to take a first look at the models that we’ll be seeing each week, not to mention how he thinks each one will fare in the competition.
How excited am I? Very! America’s Next Top Model is one of my favorite reality TV shows! Throw a bunch of model wannabes in a house together, make them compete in daily tasks that will show who has the goods to make it on the runway, and watch the drama unfold! Let’s take a look the models we’ll be watching each week, and try to figure out if we like them so far or not! Remember, last year I said Yoanna was boring and wouldn’t be around long? She won! MY Mercedes came in second place, and I said she would win. Let’s see how I do this time!
Amanda: Amanda is 25 years old and lists her occupation as mother. She’s from Hendersonville, North Carolina, but is originally from Austin, Texas. From what I can gather about her, I think she is going to try and lay pretty low, which means she’ll be around for a good while. She says that she has a unique look because her eyes are very different, and not something you see every day. I agree – there is something about them that makes them look oddly exotic. I’m thinking she’ll make it to about midway in the competition before getting cut.
Ann: Well, first off, I automatically like her since she’s from Erie, PA. I’m from Philly, and us Pennsylvanians have to stick together! Ann is a 21-year-old student that is an All-American water polo player. That’s pretty hot! Amanda stated that she doesn’t like or get along with girls that like to talk trash about others behind their backs. Hmm, this show might not be the one for her. Also, she says that one of her biggest drawbacks is that she doesn’t know when to stop talking – I know that feeling! I’m thinking Ann is going to be a good source of entertainment, like Jenascia was last season. She’ll probably be around for a good while, but she’s not my pick to win.
Cassie: Cassie is 19, and a student. She hails from Norman, Oklahoma, and her favorite food is chicken. Okay, I don’t think she’s going to be around long. Yeah, she is gorgeous, but you have to have a personality to make it on this show as well, and I don’t think Cassie has one – at least not one that I can see. Even in her little segment on the “Get to meet the models” video clip on the UPN website she shows no signs of a personality. Therefore, I think she’s going to be on the first girls cut.
Eva: Eva is a 19-year-old student from Los Angeles, California. She describes herself as an over achiever, and her favorite type of food is Mexican. Something about Eva tells me that she likes to start and/or be a part of drama. I’m not sure what it is, but just call it a hunch. I’m thinking that she is going to be the source of much of the drama in the house, but people are going to like her anyway, simply for the fact that she seems so friendly. Besides that, there isn’t too much to say, but the girl is very pretty!
Jennipher: Oh geeze, why does she have to spell it that way? That just SCREAMS “cheesy.” Jen is 22, a bartender, and comes to us from Pocatello Falls, Idaho. Wow, people actually live in Idaho? This girl has a killer body, and I’m willing to bet she knows how to use it. After all, her favorite movie is “Grease” so I’m sure she knows some of the moves Sandy did at the end! I’m willing to bet that Jen is around for most of the show, and I’m willing to place her in the top three. She seems cool, personable and has the body to top it all off. I wish her luck.
Julie: Oh here we go – I found the one I don’t think I’m going to like. Julie is East Indian and wants to create a new image for Indian women? What exactly would that image be? I never understand these people that go on reality TV in order to represent a whole race of women – it just doesn’t work that way! Julie is a 19-year-old student from Kent, Washington. I’m reading her as a troublemaker, and someone that thinks she is ten times better at things than everyone else, like Camille from last season. Since she’s a troublemaker, she’ll be around for awhile, just so they have her around to stir things up, but don’t count on her getting any further than top five or six.
Kelle: Wow, I love Kelle, and she seems really interesting! She’s 20 years old, and is the owner of an online art gallery that is named after her father. I’d love to know where it is so I can take a look at some of the stuff! She comes to us from New York City, which means I love her even more! Kelle seems really laid back, and I think she’s going to do very well. She has very nice skin, which makes her look even more beautiful than she already is. I hope she does well, simply for the fact that I’m naming her as one of my favorites!
Kristi: Kristi is from St. Louis, Missouri and is a 20-year-old student. Her favorite food is yellow cake with chocolate frosting, and she wore an American flag dress to her senior prom? Can you say “Tacky?” Kristi admits that she was raised very “Christian like” and her family will probably be disappointed if they see her end up naked on TV. First off, it’s UPN, Kristi, so they won’t show you naked on the TV. Next off, if you knew they would be disappointed, why are you there? I think this is another one that’s going to get on my nerves, therefore, she’ll probably be around for a good while.
Leah: The way I feel about Leah is the same way I thought about Cassie. She is VERY hot, but doesn’t seem to bring much to the table besides that. Where is the personality? Leah is a 24-year-old sales associate from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Doesn’t that just mean she works in retail? Ugh, I hate retail! Anyway, Leah just comes across as a little bit shallow, and I just don’t think she’s going to be able to mesh well with the other girls. I hope I’m wrong though since she really is beautiful. However, don’t get too attached, my premonition is that she won’t be around for long.
Magdalena: Magdalena is 24 years old and is a student from Worcester, Massachusetts. Bonus points, since her favorite movie is “Catch Me If You Can,” and I really like that movie, but negative points because I think she’s another troublemaker. Even in her little interview segment, she says that people better watch her. I’m not a fan, although I’m thinking that she’s one of those girls I may not like on paper, but then love when I see her on the show, which is how it was last season when I first saw Sarah! I have a feeling she will make it midway, but that’s about it.
Nicole: Nicole is originally from North Dakota, but moved to Seattle with only $400 in her pocket. She’s 21 and lists her occupation as a “former punk rocker.” What the hell does that mean? If you know, I’d LOVE to be clued in. I mean, I know what it is, but how do you get paid for that? No wonder she only had $400 in her pocket. There’s no 401K plan when you’re a professional punk rocker! Anyway, Nicole might have a good story, but I don’t think she’ll be hanging around long. Compared to what I’m seeing from the other girls, I think she’ll just get lost in the shuffle and be eliminated early.
Norelle: Norelle says her favorite food is spaghetti. I think that’s because she’s as skinny as a strand of angel hair pasta! This girl needs a cheesesteak – STAT! Norelle is 19 and lists her occupation as a sales associate as well. We’ve established that means she’s a Wal-Mart greeter. By the looks of her, I think she’ll be around for a good while, and another possibility to make the top three. She’s very pretty, and has a very photogenic look. I do think she needs to put a little weight on, though. She’s definitely going to be interesting to watch.
Toccara: Toccara is the one to watch this season! She’s 22, and a student from Dayton, Ohio. The thing about Toccara is that she’s the only “heavy” girl in the group. Toccara is 5’9” and 180 lbs. She states that “big is in” and she’s there to prove it. Since she’s there to “prove something,” she won’t win. However, since she’s big, and I’m thinking FULL of drama, she will be around for most of the competition. Nobody will fear her because everyone knows she won’t win, but they’ll accept her and act like they are so proud of her. I can’t wait! Toccara has a very positive outlook on life and dreams of becoming the worlds first superstar plus-sized model. I wish her the best of luck with that dream, but I don’t think it’s going to happen here.
Yaya: Looks like I saved the best for last. Yaya is definitely stunning! She’s 21, and a student from Harlem, New York. She speaks Portuguese, Spanish and French, which makes her look even more exotic. I’m saying it right now – she’s my pick to win it all! She has the drive, charisma, personality, and looks to be a top model. In her video clip, she comes off very articulate and personable. Something about her just screams “winner,” and I’d love to see her go all the way. This is definitely my pick to walk away with the title. Ugh, I love this girl and know nothing about her – I love when that happens!
So there you have it – a first look at the 14 girls that will be competing to be the winner of America’s Next Top Model 3 and join the likes of Adrianne Curry and Yoanna House. Will I be right about the girls? Will I be wrong? Who knows, but you can be sure there will be plenty of drama, and I’ll be enjoying the show either way! Also, like last season, I’ll be doing interviews with each eliminated contestant, so don’t forget to check RNO for those as well! America’s Next Top Model 3 premieres this Wednesday, September 22, at 8 p.m. (7 Central) on UPN.
