Big Brother 4, September 16: I Promise to Take YOU!

by Phil Kural -- 09/17/2003
The HouseGuests finish the first two rounds of the final Head of Household competition and continue doing what they do best, i.e., lying, bitching, and backstabbing. And a mime enters the house! No, unfortunately, he’s not a replacement for one of the remaining three. More’s the pity.

Looks like I’m back again to do another recap. I tell ya, the things I do for this site! Hey - I wanted to mention this really quickly. If you miss my writing (and I’m sure you do) and you’re wondering what I’m going to do next, I’m actually going to be recapping MTV’s latest installment of Fraternity Life airing Wednesday nights at 10:30! OK, that really has nothing to do with Big Brother, but I wanted to add it in there. Anyway, let’s take a look at what happened previously on the show.

As you may remember, Alison won the Power of Veto. At the live Power of Veto meeting/eviction ceremony, Alison did the smart thing and vetoed herself. This put Erika on the block. Alison then voted out Erika, all the while with tears in her eyes. Part One of the final Head of Household competition began with all three remaining HouseGuests standing on miniature houses holding onto their keys. Snow started falling and they didn’t look happy. Who will win Part One? What about Part Two? Find out in this recap!

We begin with a flashback of Erika being evicted and Alison’s speech. Alison says in the Diary Room that it’s “better her than me,” and that the tears she shed when she evicted Erika were simply to gain her vote in the end. She goes on to say that it was a four-and-a-half on her acting skills. Jun says she was confident Erika was going, but still had some pessimistic thoughts that she may have been the one that was going to be evicted. Rob comments that he’s sad Erika left and that he felt close to her. He knew Alison knew that he had a secret alliance with Erika and now he has to work harder than ever to make the final two.

Flashback of Part One of the final Head of Household competition starting. The snow begins to fall. Alison asks Jun and Robert if they are going to be out there with her all night because she will not move. She then goes on to talk about how she is used to being in snowstorms and she won’t be budging off that house. More snow. Robert says that usually, less than 70 degrees is too much for a Cuban to handle. Oh, c’mon Robert! I have to say that he has no problem giving up early! Alison attempts to talk Robert into getting off his house. More talking, and Robert mentions how Julie called him out about when he referred to the women as “bitches, sluts, and whores” (I really just wanted to say that). He tells them that he told Julie that he loved all the girls there and he spoke out of anger. Jun is shocked and appalled that he would tell them this. It pisses her off and Alison is horrified as well. Because, you know, Alison never says anything bad about anyone. I can only remember about 50 times she called Erika the same things. Oh well!

More snow gives Robert some problems. Jun says the house is tough to stand on because it’s only about an inch or so wide. Robert is getting snow down his shirt. One hour and twenty-five minutes into the competition, Jun lets go accidentally when she tries to adjust her shawl. Right after she leaves the backyard, Robert goes into deal-making mode. He tells Alison that if he wins Part Two of the challenge he will take her to the finals. Alison says she’ll keep that in mind and is definitely thinking she will take him as well. Yeah, OK. Robert steps off and Alison wins the first part of the final Head of Household competition.

Out in the hot tub, Alison and Robert are talking smack on Jun and promising one another that they will take the other to the final two. Alison says that she wants to make sure that Robert will take her in case he wins Head of Household. Robert wants a promise from Alison that she will take him if she wins. Alison lies and says she will, of course. Sleep time, and Alison tells Jun that she is glad she is still there. Jun says they need to stay focused and that is followed by them making a pact to take each other to the end. Alison tells Jun she is positive she will take her to the finals if she wins.

There is a big present in the backyard! All of the HouseGuests are excited as they go to see what it could be. Robert goes to open it and it starts to move! He finally opens it all the way and a mime pops out. You heard me, a MIME!!! Mime has a note around his neck saying he’s the key to the next luxury competition. He starts doing typical “mime things” and none of the HouseGuests know what’s going on. Mime makes Robert be the bull in a bullfight, sits with Alison for a little, and makes Jun act like a chimpanzee. How appropriate. One hour of “Mime Time” and Alison says she wants to fight with him. He seems to be getting on their nerves and freaks out Alison when he goes to get in bed with her. Then he chases her though the house and stops to make lunch with Jun. Well, he doesn’t really make lunch so much as he does break things like eggs. On the floor. Then sprinkles salt and pepper on top of the mess. Jun is really ticked off. Two hours in and Mime is still throwing things. Mime asks Robert for a bite of his sandwich and Robert gets so pissed that he gives Mime the whole thing. Robert than says this is the worst day in the house – EVER.

Alison is lying on the couch and Mime joins her. She is so pissed but I love this. Alison states that she would rather have Dana in the house. OK, Alison, deep breaths - let’s not say something we don’t mean. Mime whips out a key. The HouseGuests follow him to the Desert Room and he lets them in. It’s the prize of the luxury competition: A private screening of the movie Runaway Jury for two of them before it even hits theaters. They watch the trailer of the flick and all agree they want to see it. The winner will choose who will watch with them, not to mention they find out that the winners will also get to walk down the red carpet at the movie’s premiere in October! Mime gives them instructions and heads out. They read the instructions and see that for this competition, they have to take color-coded Velcro balls and hurl them at Mime. First one to stick three balls to Mime will win the competition. They all rush outside - very happy, I might add, that they get to throw things at Mime. They start throwing and Alison gets the first one to stick. Robert gets the first and second, and before long, the third and wins! He states how bad he wanted to win that competition and tells Mime he is taking Alison. He thinks she will be more fun than Jun. Jun looks pretty disappointed. Alison and Robert head to the Desert Room and begin pigging out on the snacks that are there for them. Alison says she doesn’t feel bad for Jun, calling her a witch and saying she deserves some time on her own. Wow - I’d love to be Alison’s friend. [I think you’d be very lonely all by yourself. - Assistant Editor]

Robert and Alison are now watching the movie. Jun says she’s lonely and can hear them laughing. She’s trying to be a good sport. Mime comes back and sneaks up behind her. He’s going to keep a startled Jun company. Mime mimes Robert and Alison kissing in the Desert Room. “Ew!” squeals Jun. Mime shows her some tricks and when she asks him what he thinks about Robert, Mime starts playing with his nose. Jun is laughing hysterically. Mime then goes and hides some of Alison’s stuffed animals, putting the elephant trunk-first in a vase, then puts coffee cups on her bed and covers them up with a blanket. Jun says she will lie and say she was in the bathroom and didn’t know he was doing that stuff. Time for Mime to leave and he and Jun have a sad goodbye. The movie ends; Robert and Alison cheer saying they loved it.

As they come out of the room talking about the movie, Jun says Mime returned and was going through Alison’s stuff. Ali finds her stuffed elephant and the coffee cups and is pissed and does a little more yelling about how much she hates Mime.

Its morning, and time for the HouseGuests to find out what the America’s Choice question will be. Who would you want to have a live internet chat with? All the HouseGuests get excited as they are given mock-ups of their individual fansites complete with quotes. Each of them looks happy as we cut to a commercial. Which commercial is it? Why, it’s a commercial for “Runaway Jury” of course! Back to the show and it’s another group meeting as they find out who wins America’s Choice. Who will have the chat? Robert! [Although if Mime were an option, I’d bet he’d have cleaned up. Are we sure he’s not eligible to win the game? Could we not start a petition, perhaps? - Assistant Editor]

Both of the girls congratulate Robert as he heads to the Head of Household Room for the chat. Alison thinks it sucks, but they do put him through hell. Jun says he was apologetic but she’s sure he was psyched to win another America’s Choice. Alison says if you’re going to apply for a reality show to make sure you have a kid and you’re a single parent. During the chat, Robert gives his advice to people with drinking problems and talks about why he is always playing with his nose (nervous habit). He also says that the ladies are going to hate him for winning another America’s Choice. Alison and Jun are outside trashing him, but in their defense, they call themselves bitches. I guess its OK when they do it; they just hate it when Robert does. Go figure. One Internet junkie asks Robert why women should want him to win after all the bad things he’s said about them. Robert apologizes. I also love the fact that they have to say the date of the finale and make Robert repeat it. He thanks America for letting him have the chat.

Later that night, Alison tells Jun to win the next part of the Head of Household competition so they know they will be going to the finals. More trash talking on Robert. They are still pissed about his remarks on women. Alison says that Jun is getting a little too cocky and it’s starting to get on her nerves. She then tells Robert that Jun makes it seem that she is going to win. Robert tries to get Alison to promise him that she’ll take him to the finals, although he doesn’t really believe anything she says. It’s about time.

Time for Part Two! The winner will compete against Alison to see who will become the Head of Household. Robert and Jun choose different-colored balls. Robert is blue and Jun is red. Alison tells them she isn’t allowed to watch the competition and Jun is glad because that means it will be less pressure. Robert and Jun head outside to see the competition. Jun thinks she will win, while Robert thinks he will. They read the directions. In front of them are five X’s. They have to hang faces of the other previous HouseGuests that match the corresponding ex questions on the gigantic X’s. Some will have multiple answers and they have to use every face. It’s time to start and they are both all over the place. Jun seems to be more collected, though. Robert looks a little confused, while Alison is sitting on the bed in the house whining that she’s irritated to be all alone. I personally couldn’t care less. [Exactly. Once again, it’s OK for Jun to have time alone, but heaven forbid she does. Shut up, Alison. - Assistant Editor] Robert gets caught up on a few questions and Jun jumps way ahead. She finishes first and wins! Alison comes out and looks so happy that Jun won. Alison says she isn’t surprised because Robert simply sucks because he’s not smart and she hates him. What great reasoning. [See above. Repeat as directed. - Assistant Editor]

Robert says he is confident that he will be taken to the final two. Are you kidding me? Alison is concerned about Jun double crossing her, as well she should be. Jun says that Alison thinks she is invincible and is rubbing it into people’s faces. She needs to watch herself. Robert says Alison is unpredictable and anything can happen. Alison says she can kill Jun in a physical competition. Who will be the final Head of Household? Who will they evict? Find out live tomorrow!
