America’s Next Top Model 4, Episode 6: Brittany Gets Blotto

Previously, Michelle was unlucky enough to get impetigo, freaking out most of the other girls. Lluvy continued to struggle in her photo shoots, but in person, it was Noelle who failed to look the part of a model, and she was sent home. Ten girls are left – who is going home tonight?

It’s morning. Michelle says that her impetigo will clear up in a few days, but it’s still a little contagious. However, now that it’s going away, her spirits are lifting. Lluvy says that if she is one of the last two girls standing in front of the judges again, she doesn’t even want to think about it. She knows that she has to step it up 110%. You know what? I’ve really gained an appreciation for Lluvy and think she really does have some potential.

Tyra Mail arrives, telling the girls they need to have good figures. It asks how bankable they are. Next, we see the girls go into a room, where they are told by a strange man to sign a confidentiality agreement. The girls feel rushed to sign, and although Tatiana is worried about signing, she does it anyway.

They are then escorted into a room where Tyra is sitting. She welcomes them to Bankable Productions, which she owns. It’s time to teach the girls about business. In comes Carolyn London, Tyra’s mom, who managed the first seven years of her career. Tatiana tells the camera she needs to learn about business since she has no idea what she is doing. Don Banks comes in; he’s Tyra’s dad and also the guy who rushed them to sign that paper. Joe the lawyer also enters and tells the girls that they basically just signed their lives away. Essentially, Tyra’s dad now owns them forever, and when they hear the word “model” they have to jump five times. Cute. However, the contract is null and void, which pleases the girls.

Next, Tatiana tells the story of how she was scammed by a fake model studio, and the same thing has happened to Rebecca. Tyra says that if any agency wants money up front, it’s a scam. Mom adds that the idea is to surround yourself with experts. Lluvy, out of nowhere, adds that she is always criticizing herself and needs to relax. Tyra heads out and Rebecca feels that you have to be smart and savvy in this business – you can’t just have a pretty face. Hmm, I guess that’s true, but the pretty face gets you in the door.

As we see the girls getting ready, Christina says that since the competition is stressful, the girls are going to have fun that night. Brittany adds that they are going to dinner and hopefully do some dancing. In the car, she also says that she can go out and not even drink yet still have a great time.

At dinner, all the girls are enjoying themselves, and several of them start drinking. Brittany has a few too many and harps on Rebecca for not drinking; she then reminds Lluvy that she has only had one good photo so far! Kahlen isn’t happy with the way Brittany is being disrespectful, and this is when Brittany gets on the table and starts dancing. You read correctly. At this point, Kahlen is upset, since not only does Brittany make herself look bad, but the rest of them as well. I have to agree. Kahlen doesn’t want to be seen that way. Once Brittany is done dancing, the girls head home.

The madness hasn’t ended, though. Everyone in the one van is talking about how uptight Rebecca and Kahlen were at dinner. Brittany is leading the chat, and Keenyah says that Brittany gets really loose when she drinks. Keenyah hopes that it doesn’t get her eliminated. I’ll tell you what it IS getting her – a spread in Playboy when this is all over. Did I forget to mention that Brittany is now mooning people in other cars?

Morning arrives, and Brittany looks a bit hungover. Rebecca says she was bothered when some girls, led by Brittany, cleared dishes off the table then danced on it. It’s just not a cool thing to do, and although she loves Brittany, she would never want her to do that. Tyra Mail arrives and says that the girls work hard every day, so it’s time to party! Brittany feels that’s a little ironic since they are already having so much fun. All the girls get dressed and ready to go, as their transport arrives and takes them up to the “swanky part of town.”

Jay Manuel is there to greet the girls. He tells them that Cover Girl is going with a new look, and the girls will be at the party today to try and impress people. Each girl walks into the room, and they are greeted by Kiara, a Cover Girl. Jay tells the camera that there are secret judges at the party who will be judging the girls on their confidence and poise, how well they work the room and interact, and finally, how well they transcend their beauty inside and out. Keenyah says that she was working on just leaving a lasting impression, while Naima says that being the center of attention humbles her. Brittany is already into the booze, which can’t be good. Lluvy even adds that Brittany is beautiful, but can be a bit loud at times, and this isn’t about being the loudest.

Christina makes a pretty big fumble when she points to a picture and says she doesn’t know who the girl is – it’s Kiara, the girl who greeted her when she walked into the party. Kahlen talks about when her sister draws on her face, and while Tatiana is nervous, Tiffany stays fully away from the other party guests and just looks at the makeup. Lluvy says she was her usual goofy self. Michelle is worried that her skin still looks a little bad. Jay pulls all the girls aside and informs them that it wasn’t just a normal party, but a challenge as well, with secret judges. He has notes from the judges on each girl.

The judges felt that Tiffany was glued to the product and that Kahlen had a very unique look. Naima was a bit too quiet, and Keenyah came off poised and confident. Christina wasn’t paying attention, and Tatiana was very secretive. Lluvy was eloquent and aware of her features, and Rebecca has a great body. Brittany was worried more about the drinking than the party, and Michelle didn’t look very comfortable at all. All that being said, the winner will get to pick one friend and spend the night at a hotel on the beach. The judges choose Keenyah as the winner. Yay, I love Keenyah! They felt she is the girl who most looks like a Cover Girl. She picks Brittany to join her, and Tiffany tells the camera that maybe Keenyah needs or wants a big sister, but they should be cut together.

The two girls arrive in their room and find all this food and wine; it looks like they are getting the VIP treatment. The other girls arrive back at the loft and find Tyra Mail. It tells them to be ready at 6:30 a.m. Nobody seems happy about the early wake-up call. Keenyah and Brittany have Tyra Mail as well which tells them to enjoy their reward; as an added bonus, they can be “fashionably late” for the shoot tomorrow, which thrills them both since they are sick of getting up early.

Back at the loft, Lluvy says that she feels close to the other girls, but still feels lonely sometimes. She doesn’t think she is beautiful, but does feel that she is unique, and tells this to her boyfriend on the phone. However, she got a lot of good compliments at the party, and she is going to take them and run with them. She’s really starting to grow on me. Her pictures are her biggest fault right now, so that’s what she needs to work on.

In the morning, the girls wake up and head for their shoot. Brittany and Keenyah get up a little later and have breakfast in bed, toasting to many more of the same. The other girls are now driving in the middle of nowhere and arrive at their shoot site. Jay Manuel welcomes them and tells them that the scorching heat will not be the only element they have to deal with today, as a wind machine and rain machine are rolled in. All these things will be combined for a hot and sultry shoot, with the look being a sexy greased-up mechanic. Ooh, kinky! The photographer for the girls is Mathu, and I’m assuming it’s spelled that way because he’s gay. He normally does the girl’s makeup, but he’s also a photographer. The two girls at the hotel are now getting massages and are happy that they get to be late for the shoot.

All the girls at the shoot are changing. Jay decides to put a second girl in the background to make it even more dynamic. How does that make it more dynamic? She’s just sitting in a truck in the background. I REALLY hate Jay Manuel.

Kahlen is the first to go and says that the shoot is a bit extreme, but that’s the job. It’s hard for her to pose and she says the water is very cold. Tiffany goes next, and Mathu says that she nailed it with her poses, although she hated the water. Christina is next and says she think she worked the tire. At this point, Brittany and Keenyah are playing in the ocean since Brittany has never been to California.

Michelle is the next girl to do her shoot, and she is told that she’s being too timid. Jay tells her to have more energy next time, and she walks away feeling worried. Naima follows and says she has to put the competition out of her mind if she wants to succeed. She does very well as usual. Love her! Rebecca is the next to go and just says she doesn’t want to crash and burn. Mathu says that Rebecca has a very safe look going for her. Tatiana is up next, and she looks HOT. Jay even notes that she surprised him. Lluvy is the next girl to go, and Jay tells her to show more energy. She does her shoot, and I’m not sure how the judges will feel about it. Jay just remarks that Lluvy's shoot is “interesting.”

Keenyah and Brittany finally arrive, and Tiffany tells them that they are going to freeze. Keenyah says that everyone is all mad, while she and Brittany are relaxed. Keenyah goes first, and Jay says she did a good job, but she was moving way too fast. Brittany is the last to go, and she says that she doesn’t want to overdo the whole thing since she knows her sexuality is an issue. Jay says that she is very much like an early Janice Dickinson.

The girls finish the shoot and get home. Tyra Mail says that tomorrow they will meet with the judges and only nine girls will continue on. Brittany tells the camera that Lluvy has stood up there twice now and has almost been sent home, and Michelle should be worrying, too. Sure enough, both girls are nervous.

The girls arrive in front of the judges. Tyra says it’s really time to get down to business. She reminds them of the prizes and introduces them to the judges, including guest judge Mathu, the photographer from their last challenge. This week, the girls will be evaluated on how they sell their most important product – themselves. The girls have to decorate a perfume bottle and give a description about it.

The judges act like they are five different people from around the world, including Brooklyn, the South, London, etc. Keenyah is first, and she says that her perfume represents everyone. Christina is told by Janice as she is explaining her perfume that Raid sounds more sexy. Kahlen is told she is being boring, while Naima looks cute and Nole’ is impressed. Tiffany is confused and so is Rebecca, while Tatiana is making the judges speechless. Michelle has some issues saying “feminine,” and Lluvy is so confused that I’m not sure what to say. Brittany explains her product, and Mathu says it sounds like something bisexuals wear. Okay... on that note, she also does a little jig, and that’s about it.

Time for individual evaluations! Brittany is first, and the judges talk about her drinking. They think she looked like a fool with the perfume, but love her photo this week. Kahlen rolled with the punches, and they think her shot is great as well. Christina was very clinical with her perfume, and they start to break her down. Janice tells Christina she doesn’t know who she is yet, and a tearful Christina say she watched her mother get eaten alive, and she doesn’t want that to be her. They look at her picture and Tyra calls her Wonder Woman!

The judges tell Tatiana she looked confused but had a great shot. Tiffany was dorky pitching her perfume, but has so much going on. In her shot, her tattoo is showing on her breast, and it’s not endearing. Naima was great at selling, and they love her shot, but feel it’s a bit raunchy. Keenyah was sweet with her perfume and has a great face, but her shot had a bad body pose. Rebecca acted like a Girl Scout and rehearsed, and they like her body position, but her face is lacking in the picture. Lluvy was a fool when she pitched her fragrance. They think she gave her shot some heart, but it didn’t come together. Finally Michelle is told by Nole’ that he adores her, and they says her perfume sales pitch was bad; her shot is bad up close, but looks great far away. Is that a compliment?

Time for the judges to deliberate. Tatiana has a way of looking “too pretty” at times, while Kahlen is selling something this week, but what that is the judges don’t know. Brittany is cool and interesting, and Tiffany just looks scared. Keenyah had a bad shoot, while Christina is cool and wispy. Michelle can be a bit of a tomboy, but Tyra likes her. Rebecca could be a great runway model, but not a top model. Nole’ says Lluvy looks like a wet Chihuahua, but Tyra says she has a face to be a star. Naima is cool and collected and has a great body. Mathu wants her to lose 10 pounds, and Janice says everyone there is fat.

The girls come back in, and Tyra tells them she has nine photos. One girl will not get a photo and will be eliminated. The first name called is Kahlen, followed by Brittany, who is told that the judges love her personality, but she has to reel it in. Naima is next, followed by Christina, who is told she was the most endearing of the group tonight. Michelle is called next, and Tyra tells her she is one of a kind. Tatiana is next, and then Tiffany, who scurries up to get her photo. Then comes Keenyah, who Tyra says is usually at the head of the pack but was lukewarm this week.

Lluvy and Rebecca step up. Only one photo left. Tyra says the reason they are standing there is because from week to week they are both the same. Rebecca is beautiful, but safe and boring. Lluvy has potential, but her pictures say otherwise. Both have had the weakest progression as well. One will have another chance, though… and Rebecca is called. Lluvy hugs the other girls and, as she packs her bags, says that she is so lost right now. She has always wanted to be a model, and although she’s not the next Cover Girl, maybe she’s not being realistic. She has no idea where to go next from here, concerning her career. Lluvy would have great potential in runway; she has great features!

Next week, the girls do the acting thing. Looks like a sexy shoot as well, involving a pillow fight. Also, at elimination, one of the girls sends Tyra over the edge, forcing Tyra to scream, “Be quiet!” to someone. I can’t wait to see who. Why is my gut telling me it’s Brittany? I guess we’ll see. But for now, here are my rankings:
