Survivor: Cook Islands, Episode 12’s Missing Intelligence Award – Yul Never Guess Who

by Heathyr Fields Ford -- 12/13/2006
Well… maybe you will guess, because it’s rather obvious who deserves the Missing Intelligence Award for the most recent episode. But is it just him, or are there others involved? Read on to find out!

Like the intro says, maybe you will guess! It’s so obvious, I’m not going to even bother with much of a preamble. I’ll meander after. This week’s Missing Intelligence Award goes to Yul & the Aitus for massive intelligence hemorrhaging into beautiful ocean waters!

Why. WHY. WHY!! Seriously, why would you vote Jonathan off now? Jonathan? Not much of a risk to win immunity, as he told you. Adam? Definitely a risk. Jonathan? A desperate lone shark nibbling outside the Aitu’s shark proof cage. Adam? Part of a dyad with Parvati and even more desperate. The odds of two snapping a bite out of Aitu are better than the lone shark, ya know?

I was SO irked at the damned Aitus for busting Jonathan. At the very least, get rid of Adam while he doesn’t have immunity! You probably want to get rid of Parvati too, so she doesn’t pull the “girls, let’s stop letting the boys boss us around” line that will start to sound good right about now, even to loyal Becky. Then axe Jonathan. Just. Like. You. Planned.

Speaking of loyal Becky, what is up with her? I don’t get a good feel for her or her game play, and I wonder if I’m missing something. She seems, however, to be driving some of Yul’s hand, and she’s driving it in bad directions. She (and probably Sundra) didn’t want Jonathan around, so Jonathan goes. From clips for next week, she doesn’t want Ozzy around. Will Yul further screw up and follow that logic? Maybe, in the course of the episode, we’ll see something that makes that statement make sense, but for right now, I’m just screaming at my television to “stick to the plan!” Too many decent alliances screw up by switching around too early for dumb reasons. Getting rid of Jonathan was idiotic.

Don’t play this game with your heart. Play it with your brain. Yul’s been playing a good mind game, utilizing the hidden idol in a great way, but he’s got this integrity stuff mixed up in it, making for some schizophrenic moments, in my book. The women seemed disinclined to give Jonathan a chance even when he was originally on their tribe. They needed him still though, so they should not have let the heart rule the mind (one love, and love is blind! Good ol’ GTR), and should have kept Jonathan around. Plus, Jonathan is WAY more entertaining than Adam and Parvati!

The only way this will become a good move is if Becky and Sundra wrest control from Yul and wind up winning as a direct result of this change. And then it’s still only a good move if that was their plan the whole time, because otherwise, it’s just a shot in the dark.

Again, Nate gets honorary positions here for his antics during Tribal Council. He’s like a 12-year old sometimes.

We’re almost at the end. Woo hoo!
