Surviving the Early Show: Parvati’s Interviewby David Bloomberg -- 12/15/2006
Parvati was voted out of Survivor: Cook Islands Thursday night, so that means she’s on The Early Show Friday morning. There’s even a chance the host, Hannah Storm, might ask a decent question. Hey, it could happen. Maybe. OK, it’s a bad start, because Storm introduces the segment by claiming Parvati “stabbed Adam in the back” and begged Yul to let her stay. Stabbed Adam in the back? What? That’s ridiculous. She was simply asking to stick around in his place. God, these interviewers are clueless. The first important item is to clear up how to pronounce her name. Obviously, I can’t do that here in written form, but Probst was saying it wrong the whole game. Parvati says Probst is amazing and she has so much respect for him, but she corrected him six times and finally he started saying it right near the end. Storm asks Parvati if she thought she actually had a chance last night. Parvati says she knew her time was up. She was going to try to scramble and talk to “mastermind” Yul, but it didn’t work. The naked hot tub scene is brought up and Storm is making much more out of it than Parvati, who says their clothes were being washed and she wasn’t going to leave the reward without getting a hot tub! (I’m sure that’s completely a coincidence that their clothes were being washed just as the hot tub became available.) Storm says she has to call Parvati on using her “feminine wiles” (she tries to make a sexy face while saying it, but it just comes off looking silly). Was that her strategy? Parvati says her strategy was to be underrated and likeable. Flirting is just a trick of the trade – it’s easier to make friends if you have more banter. She really hit it off with Nate— Before she can finish her thought, Storm (as she often does) cuts her off and says she elevated flirting to an art form: Nate, Ozzy, and of course Adam. And then Storm compounds her idiotic statement from the beginning of the interview by saying Parvati threw Adam under the wheels of the bus! This woman should not be allowed to interview Survivor contestants anymore. Seriously. Parvati ignores the dumb comment and says they had each other’s backs throughout the game so they just sheepishly (individually) went to Yul and said they didn’t want to hurt the other but they want to stay. It was sad and difficult for her. Was Yul really that powerful? Everybody seemed to go to him, Storm notes. Parvati says he was calling the shots – he had the idol and the tight alliance with Becky. And Sundra was keeping her mouth shut and going along with everything they said. So Parvati says if you wanted to stay longer, you had to convince Yul. No secret scene tonight, so that’s it. Of course, the winner and other finalists will be back on The Early Show Monday, and I’ll have all the details for you. Hopefully, the interviewer will keep his/her stupid comments to a minimum. Not likely, but hopefully. In the meantime, if you want to read an interview not full of idiotic statements, I talked to Parvati already! You can click here to read it right now!
