Dancing with the Stars 4, May 15: Full of Filler

by Jill Jones -- 05/16/2007
Monday night on Dancing with the Stars, all of the couples did a spectacular job; the judges handed out plenty of goobers; Yoko was indifferent to the entire thing. Tonight, another couple will be eliminated from the competition. Jill is so confused as to which couple is going home. Let’s get the show started so she can end her bewilderment.

Tom and Samantha welcome us to the show and recap the previous night’s dancing. You can read my recap instead.

Next, Tom and Samantha go over the current standings. I’m including mine as well.

RANKINGSTARSCOREJILL’S RANKING
1 Joey 60 4
1 Laila 60 1
3 Apolo 59 2
4 Ian 58 3

Len tells us that he, Bruno, and Carrie Ann have selected Kym and Joey to perform the encore performance. They’re redoing their jive and it’s still as energetic and fun as it was before.

Enrique Iglesias is in la casa and performs “Hero” while several of the professionals (including MY Louis) dance. The performance is quite beautiful, and some of the moves that Edyta and Karina do are amazing.

Samantha chirps with Kym and Joey, and Julianne and Apolo backstage. She asks annoying questions and cuts people off when they answer. In other words, it is a normal evening so far.

The audience members share their opinions with us. One guy says that Len needs bran. He’s probably just full of filler.

Tom and Samantha tell us the first couple that is moving on to the finals. It is Kym and Joey. They are thrilled.

Joaquin Cortes, a world-renowned flamenco dancer, performs. While he dances, people accompany him on guitar and by clapping. Whoa. The guy is awesome.

Samantha talks backstage to the couples that have not yet learned their fate in the competition. Everyone is very humble about his and her chances. And Samantha cuts Apolo off.

Jimmy Kimmel and Guillermo inform us that people who work at Jimmy’s show can’t stop dancing. It’s, ummm, interesting to say the least.

Enrique returns to sing “Do You Know.” I like the song; it’s toe tapping. Yoko decides to snooze through it, though.

The judges analyze each star’s abilities since there are two athletes and two performers left in the competition. They point out that the athletes already understand the training aspect of the dances, but the entertainers have tricks that they can rely on. They also discuss choking when the competition gets tough, wanting the audience’s approval, and giving a monkey’s armpit. The last sentiment came from Len.

The stars now discuss the abilities of one another. Of course, they have nothing but positive things to say. Cough… filler… cough.

Finally, Tom and Samantha reveal another safe couple. It just happens to be Laila and Maksim. Women everywhere are happy that his chest will be back next week.

After a commercial break, Tom and Samantha tell us that the couple that has been eliminated is… Cheryl and Ian. Ian seems to take the elimination well and is a real gentleman. He compliments the other dancers and thanks Cheryl for her help. He begins to choke up; it’s very touching. The clips that the producers show of Cheryl and Ian are even more emotional. In fact, Cheryl is crying as the segment ends.

Samantha says that the couples will perform a dance selected by the judges next week. That should be fun! I’ll make sure that Yoko and I are awake and alert for the finals if you promise to join us then!
